Have you ever listened to one or more of my parcels of harmonic noise and enjoyed it?Have you ever read a thrilling description of my experiences playing live with the band of misfits I am proud to occasionally front and wished you could have attended?
Would you like to donate to a charitable restaurant in a city you’ve probably never been to?
If so, then this upcoming virtual attraction may be for you!
It will be on Wednesday, 29 July, 2020, at 7 pm EST (4 pm PST and midnight GMT, sorry Brits, and 9 am Thursday, 30 July for people in major Eastern cities in Australia).
Information on the particulars of the livestream may be found here: https://trianglecsl.org/index……the-table/
Without giving too much away, I can confirm that there will be some amount of Beatles covering and original compositioning on the setlist!

Ooh, sounds exciting! I can’t recall being part of a real-time Forum communal experience since the interview with ITSWD on WETSroosa’s radio show back in 2014 (-15?)
Damn right I’ll be tuning in – and I’m half expecting the audience to all be holding multilingual “All You Need Is Love ” signs

Great stuff! In particular the guitar part – it was intricate enough to easily keep my attention, but not ridiculously complicated – full marks there
You need to get your band to play some of these! They’d sound great in a band setting, methinks.

Thanks! I didn’t [have time to] overthink it. When playing alone one does try to spice things up, though, and I have a bad (or good, depending on how you look at it) tendency to cram suspended 2nd and major 7th chords in my songs* and they beg to be mildly and unfussily half-arpeggiated with a nice glimmery Strat tone, you know…

This is true – I’ve had one particularly upbeat number I dreamt up some time ago running through my head recently, and I’ve been sort of half thinking of a drum part for it (despite knowing very little about drums )… the only thing I’ve settled on is that the chorus riff needs a nice snare hit between syncopated chords à la Led Zeppelin/Bonzo e.g. “The Wanton Song”…
The thing is, we have to find a suitable occasion, since we generally try to tailor our setlists to whatever we’re playing for…
*I have a major (no pun intended) addiction to these chords; my earliest songwriting attempts typically devolved into me strumming major 7th chords in random keys aimlessly. I’ve been working on limiting them to 2 or 3 per song and use mostly normal cowboy chords because using guitarwankery chords for the sake of it is not necessarily beneficial, but I totally relapsed here. The only normal chords in the song are the C and F.

I didn’t hear any ego in the song, just great playing and melody. Seconding Holey’s full band suggestion too, I reckon it would be (even more) wonderful if you arranged it something like this.

I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Like that one a lot @Beatlebug and agree with the above posts that some other instruments could add some real flavor.

Just a quick and dirty demo I did last night (lyrics in description) which I have to redo with wailing guitars and possibly rhythm mandolin and such at some point. As loathe as I normally am to create art that isn’t purely personal and escapist, I do like this one, I think it has potential.

This Moment has a very George-esque melody – intentional, or inevitable?
More like inevitable. I wasn’t trying to write anything except what I was trying to write, if that makes sense.

Hello!
I am (doubtfully) new to this forum. I have been looking in here sporadically over a few years. I actually made this account some years ago but never began to wrote on a more regular level. I don’t remember why!
This seems to be a nice thread to see what people (and Beatles fans, I presume) can make on their own, musically speaking. It’s been fun to see, and there seems to be no lack of talent in people around here!
Recently I made a Youtube account where I have started to upload a bit of my own songs and covers, and intends to keep uploading in the future too. It’s called Sounds Of Yore, because there is to be no doubt about the fact that I’m not intending to compose nor perform anything new and modern-sounding.
Here is a link to the channel if anyone is interested in hearing some:

Best regards,

If you would like to write/record a 1963 era Beatles song, the chords you need are as follows (in any order you wish)*
Intro (3 chords) G, A + either C or D
Verse (5 chords) A, E, G, B7, D
Chorus (3 chords) Any of A, C#m, E or G
Bridge/Middle 8 (4 chords): A, G, D + either Bm, C or E
Solo (3 chords) Any of A7, B7, G, Am
*I basically looked at all the chords the Beatles used in the songs they wrote during 1962/63 and worked out the average for each section.

I finally got my bandcamp page up with a little tune I wrote on my synth for a discord challenge based on a patch preset I’ve been playing around with for a few weeks:

Thanks guys, I’ve had that site in draft stage for so long and I really needed to get it done at some point! Now I have to justify it and build an audience, oh no, self-promotion!
