Today I had my guitar lessons over video call with my teacher. As he was looking up the sheet music/tabs to send me for “Norwegian Wood ” and the Dorian scale, we were talking about quarantine and how it’s affecting everyone. He says that he thinks everything will be back to normal by mid- to late April and then proceeded to ask me about my opinions on it. I said that I have no idea because I’m just a redheaded teenage girl with no experience in public health and therefore cannot make a sound judgment on when this is all going to be over; however, I also added that I don’t think this will be over anytime soon whatsoever, unfortunately…

“Documentary” update: Some surprising twists and turns, a lot of hard work was clearly put into it. The identity of who ‘Rita’ is will leave me quaking for days. The factual errors were abundant but it’s to be expected. Overall a laugh.
Cheers to all who took part.
Next week we’ll actually be showing something of good quality or playing games.

I have nothing to do except schoolwork so on Friday I decided to get back into Sims FreePlay. So if you need me I’ll be building a massive Gothic mansion with a rooftop balcony and making my sims harvest beans over and over again.

Had an anxiety/panic attack today thinking about all the people who may die because Donald Trump refuses to send medical supplies to states where the governors don’t agree with him. The governor of Michigan says supply companies were told not to give or sell her any supplies. And he wants everyone to go back to normal by Easter so that the economy will improve and his poll numbers will go up, which means more people will die.
I got so upset thinking about all this (plus normal every-day stresses) my face turned red and it felt like pins and needles all over my face. I’m sure my blood pressure also went up. I had to take deep breaths and empty my mind.
Now I can’t think about anything stressful at all. I’ll probably stop reading news. We’ve already stopped going out of the house because of the virus, except to get groceries once a week. The unemployment rate is 820% in our state and our county is number 1 in virus cases.
Surely that’s not right, if so 8 times the number of people in the state are unemployed which would be some going.

^It’s like if 100 people were unemployed in his state last week and now 920 are unemployed this week- an increase of 820% week on week, I would imagine. Those trends are everywhere right now mostly from people in the hospitality industry.
ExTex it sounds like you’re doing everything correctly, make sure to go out for a walk sometime during the day, you’re fine if you’re with only people from your household and just stay away from other people. You’re doing everything you can do and that should be applauded, eventually Trump will see sense or the people will make him see sense.

So a few weeks ago back when the Coronavirus was in its infancy a buddy of mine who does public speaking took a trip down to the southeastern united states to, I believe, South Carolina for an event. While there he talked with some of the locals, and they were calling it the ‘Ronavirus, or simply the ‘Rona. Since then our little group of friends has referred to it as that.

You might wanna see someone about that. Calm down and don’t take an unsubstantiated claim (for that is what it is) by a salty Democrat* so seriously that it gives you a panic attack. (For what it’s worth, which isn’t much, as far as I’m concerned, because talk is cheap but actions are dearer, President Trump has said that he encourages states to try and get their own supplies if they can, and the administration will help them out if they can’t. Seems reasonable, though, as I said, talk is cheap.) Don’t we all want everything to go back to normal by Easter? The economy crashing will be good For No One , as you yourself will surely acknowledge, as you speak of your state’s unemployment rate. Whether it’s possible or not remains to be seen, as I do believe Trump has stated himself on several occasions.
Conclusion: yes, stop reading the news. What’s to be, they say, will be**. Until then, all you can do is prepare yourself and your loved ones and do the best you can.

It’s now getting to the point where I am starting to not read the news, I’ll check in every Now And Then . The advice to stay inside unless essential or for exercise (once a day, don’t travel 30 miles to the forest for it), don’t go near a human who isn’t is your household and wash your hands after being outside/touching your shopping etc is not going to change for a good while so stick with that. The news coming in is either how many deaths and who (which is deeply disturbing as the numbers increase almost everywhere) and how people and companies are helping to come together and stand together as a community whilst we fight the virus.
Listening to that frequently will only bring anxieties to the fore, especially with no clue to when this will be over.

I have an incredibly high news tolerance — I can listen to copious amounts of depressing s**t that’s happening in the world and it somehow never gets me down because I’m either mildly heartless or apathetic outside my own circle — it’s just intellectual stimulation, which I crave anyway. But for all you more sensitive souls, I definitely recommend avoiding it as it’s All Corona, All the Time, and nothing really changes anyway (I’m extremely bored by it at this point, honestly. Not to demean the problem or anything, but really, it is the same old). If you’re already doing what you can, why do you need to pay close attention unless it affects you specifically?

I know I just told y’all not to pay attention to the news anymore, but I found this rather heartening and made me very proud of my fellow statesmen.

I’d love for this all to be over and for us to get back to normal in order to minimise the economic crash, too, but if it’s a question of the safety of the general public, then the right thing to do IMO is to keep the lockdown going as long as is necessary. It’s not pleasant for anyone, but it’s better than what would happen otherwise.

I think the problem with quarantines/lockdowns is that when it comes to poorer populations, the quarantine isn’t going to reduce such clusters at all. If anything, sending them back into the workforce might be the better choice when it comes to prevention among them, since they are at least liable to workplace safety procedures. It’s a shame I don’t see this being discussed among the mainstream news outlets.
Also, I have major concerns that such a pullback from the workforce is going to trigger increased mobilizations among organized street crime gangs. For instance, AFP reports that prominent anti-mafia investigator Giuseppe Governale says that the Italian mafia can profit from the virus outbreak from dummy corporations. It does call into question how the underworld groups can take advantage of the situation of a major pullback of the workforce.
To be clear, I am currently agreeing with prioritizing civilian safety over the economy, but however I would like to make some valid questions regarding the lockdown. I don’t want to just bring the worldwide economy into question only.

With all due respect to your friend, I still wouldn’t see that as cause for a panic attack, but perhaps I’m overly stoic or apathetic.

I’m sorry you feel that way. We try to keep this Forum a welcoming place where you can share anything you want. I know I can be little rough around the edges sometimes and people often find my attempts at tough love more tough than loving, but I only meant the best by my post. If you had stress reactions or thought patterns that were affecting your ability to stay calm and rational even under situations as scary as this one, then I would genuinely wish you the best in combating those issues. In your post, you sounded pretty stressed, and I don’t want anyone to be overly stressed. That Is All.

I was worried that because of quarantine, I wouldn’t be able to have the appointment with my clinic’s psychiatric PA about medication options, but luckily that’s all been sorted out and next week I’ll be able to talk to her via video call. The only thing that’s stressing me out about this is that I won’t have any privacy during the virtual appointment due to me being in a small house with my family, but I’m trying to assuage that fear by just focusing on the positive fact that at least I’ll have an appointment in the first place.
