The James Bond movie No Time to Die has been pushed back for the third time due to the virus and closed cinemas around the world, with the new release date now being 8 October 2021.

I’m such a man-child, that the constant pushback of James Bond is the only news through last year that has made me grumpy.

The way it’s going they will be releasing the new James Bond in the next film as a double screening with the one they are still to release.

Well, 1 year ago today we saw the first case in Australia. We’ve been very lucky here, only 28,777 cases as of today, and 909 deaths. However, that number is so low because of the hard lockdowns we had – a trade-off well worth it, imo.

What a crazy year.

I’m a big Bond fan and this has been a source of great annoyance to me. At least release it for Australia. mccartney-shrug_01_gif

Okay so a couple of days ago I was shoveling snow at work and I realized that it’s hard when you have a mask on with glasses because your vision keeps going out due to the fog.

best solution I’ve found is to get a mask with wire along the top, and bend it so there’s no gap along your cheeks/nose

Mine was like that, but the wire was kinda flimsy and wasn’t holding its shape.

Today the UK passed 100,000 deaths within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19. The number is actually higher because we’ve only counted those who tested positive, and there wasn’t much testing going on at the beginning.

We have had the highest number of deaths in Europe and, if taken per capita, the third highest number of deaths in the world (behind Belgium and Slovenia; the US, with over 400,000 deaths, comes in 8th by this measure).

If you live in the UK, I implore you to watch this video on how we have responded to COVID, it’s incredibly eye opening.

How that can’t be called a scandal I simply don’t know. A total failure to lead his country, it’s effectively criminal. He’s certainly got blood on his hands…

Agree.

Rupert Murdoch has a lot to answer for. The media and journalism is supposed to hold the government to account, not be sympathetic to them.

Boris is a clown. The whole of the UK know this including the media but they are utterly useless which is something else the whole of the UK know. The press love those who can give a headline and who doesn’t love bumbling Boris with his funny jokes and charismatic personality even if he is increasingly incompetent.

What I find more surprising is just how pointless and irrelevant Labour have been. Almost a year on and I still have no idea what they stand for, what they do and what they want outside of everything having been done better quicker for less money. Millions of issues they could batter the Government over yet they are so useless they cannot even challenge the Government with any real vigour.

Worrying to hear that Captain Sir Tom Moore is in hospital with Covid and needing help with his breathing; good to hear that he isn’t in intensive care.

Get well soon, Sir.

Some good news heart

My 87 year old Mom was admitted to the ICU on Christmas with kidney failure. After several days of care she was better and was placed in rehab where within a week she tested positive for Covid. After an up and down month her doctor just called to tell me she is fully recovered and will receive the Moderna vaccine at 4:00 today. She needs to watch her fluids and diet but doc says that there is “no reason she can’t live to be 100 years old”.

A year ago today (11 March) the World Health Organisation declared Covid-19 a pandemic.

It’s been a long strange year.

A strange year indeed. However, contrary to what Texas and Florida want you to believe, we’re not out of this yet and i hope you all continue to follow safety guidelines until we achieve herd immunity, which we are on track to achieve sometime in the fall.

It may suck to spend another summer wearing masks, social distancing, and not going to live events (or doing so in a restrictive manner) but pulling the plug prematurely could have disastrous effects, especially with some strains showing resistance to the vaccine.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.
