I was just wondering how is this situation afecting your musical local scene. Are clubs still programming live concerts and stuff ? Is goverment helping to promote those events? Or are they chasing, punishing and banning?
Here in Spain the situation is dramatic. Lots of concerts and/or festivals cancelled and the goverment is not helping at all. A few very well known clubs closed already and a lot more will follow soon.

The situation sounds pretty awful in Spain, not just music wise. Hope you can recover quickly SW.
Live music was banned in March or April here, I think. We’ve been in one of the strictest lockdowns since a point in time (a month? A year? No one knows anymore) and obviously live music isn’t an essential service, so that was first to go and likely last to come back – meaning we might not see live music until 2021 in the music capital of Australia…

It’s such a shame when live music can do so much good for people when things are bad.

Well, England is seeing a rise in the virus again. Much of the North-West already facing restrictions, the North-East (including Liverpool) having new restrictions from next Tuesday. Another total lockdown is not being ruled out.
The New Year’s Eve fireworks in London were cancelled today.

Christmas, New Year, Fireworks Night etc as we know them to be will be off, accept it now as large home get togethers and drinking in the pubs with friends will be off. It’s going to be one very long winter.

The whole situation across Europe, UK very much included, sounds awful. Stay safe everyone, and for the public’s health sake I hope a lockdown is declared asap.*
You’d best start preparing for Christmas on zoom, I guess.
Hoping for a quick decline in case numbers
*it’s been 47 days since the harsh lockdowns were imposed on Melbourne I think, and today’s numbers were 35 times lower than they were Aug 5. It can be done.

Lockdown 2 will have a catastrophic impact on the economy and will take decades to recover from so I can understand why Boris and co haven’t got around to announcing it yet, not that I agree with them. With numbers rising fast and no sign of a proper real vaccine on the way, despite what Trump and Russia say, I cannot see any other way to limit the impact on lives.
Sadly the virus is highly contagious and there are many stupid people out there who won’t follow the guidelines so this was inevitable.

If America has a 2nd lockdown, we’re screwed. Even a single lockdown was enough to make it so 32% of Americans can’t afford rent and 50% fear medical bankruptcy, so i can only imagine what a 2nd lockdown would do.

I doubt you will as it could have a massive impact on Trump’s chances on getting a second term and there is no way he would let that happen. A large part of his campaign is the success of the economy and shutting down the country a second time would kill it. The presidential election campaigns are going to be horrible for the country.

Well… The government could help its citizens and enact legislation to prevent that from happening? It would impact the economy short term but long term would really help… Not to mention being in the interest of all the American people…
I dunno, just a thought.
I cannot comprehend why all the politicians are hung up on the economy. Just shows their values, that they’d value a few bucks over many, many people’s lives.

To be fair a lot of people’s lives might become significantly threatened if they are unable to pay rent or if they can’t afford things like groceries… but there has to be some sort of feasible compromise between coronavirus safety and economic stability, right?

More restrictions coming to the UK and Scotland.
Good. About time.
I’ve given up on this year and doing things so it’s work, hide and hope this horrendous disease pisses off soon.

Someone obviously has never read up on the history of the Roman Republic.
Most countries in the South-East Asian region here are experiencing a rise in cases, going to the upper-double or even triple digits. Though at this point, a full lockdown would be terrible all economies involved, so nothing much we can do anymore. On the bright side, things are slowing down lately, so maybe we won’t be seeing a second wave in the near future (and hopefully, ever). As always, us folks here are cheering you Europeans and Americans on.
Side note (1): We will promptly forget the fact that you British left us out to dry when the Japanese invaded, haha.
Side note (2): We still don’t talk about the Philipines or Indonesia. God bless those countries, though.

In a day and age of the many MP’s and such who forget to wear masks, break the rule of six or whatever the rules are in their county, it’s always good to know that you only have to look to Scotland to find the most stupid braindead MP who doesn’t just somehow forget a minor part of it (we all will in some way if we are honest) but goes all out to shatter every bone of guidance there is.
People on BB I give you Margaret Ferrier, MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West, member of the SNP. Margaret had symptoms, took a test on Saturday, travelled to London on the train on Monday, spoke in the House of Commons, tested positive, travelled home on the train on Tuesday. To make it even more incredulous, she posted herself speaking in the HoC on the day she tested positive on the day the fine for breaking the rules was increased.
If that wasn’t even Margaret was one of the many MP’s demanding Dominic Cummings resign for travelling during lockdown whilst he should have been self-isolating.
But she has apologised so despite the SNP removing the whip and suspending her and everyone on the planet coming together to set aside their differences and agree she should resign, I still expect her to try to cling onto her position with every iota of her being.
