Biking and Beatles music in Salt Lake City https://www.deseret.com/entert…..-club-band
The start of the article…
SALT LAKE CITY — On a hot Friday night, 180 Beatles fans set out on their bikes.
Divided into groups of 16-20 people, they rode along designated paths in downtown Salt Lake City. Half of the riders took a 4-mile route that went east. The other half traveled west.
On each route, five local bands — each separated by a four-to-five minute bike ride — awaited the travelers, eager to make live music again. The cyclists put on masks as they began to approach a listening site. After parking their bikes, they lingered at each stop for 20 minutes, keeping several feet apart as they enjoyed hits like “Strawberry Fields,” “With A Little Help From My Friends ” and “Eleanor Rigby .”

Here’s a Buzzfeed quiz for how many Beatles songs you can name in 7 minutes. I got 78, but the quiz rejects answers like ‘Taxman ‘ and ‘Doctor Robert ‘ for some reason..
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

It doesn’t count From Me To You either for some reason and counts Long as a song.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

‘Doctor Robert ‘ is ‘Dr Robert’, the others I have no idea why they are rejected. I didn’t bother with going the full seven minutes.

They should be persecuted for crimes against humanity, if so. I shall assemble a team of prosecutors to bring the Buzzfeed corporation to international court, if I must. All injustices must be swiftly dealt by the hand of justice.

It’s been trailed that from the 24th July face masks will become mandatory in English shops which will make shopping more awkward for me because of my health problems.
Obviously I will do it if necessary but will need to check with my doctor if I fall into the exempt group because of my breathing, and even if I am exempt I doubt that’s going to be easy as people increasingly frown and challenge those not wearing face coverings.
Will they provide exemption certificates that we can show?
Can handle it easy enough in my usual shop as I’m not often in there more than five minutes at most but it definitely makes supermarket shopping, where I’ll be in there at least half-hour, trickier.
There’s also the stupid bit that pubs and restaurants it seems will be exempt, the retail sites where you spend the longest time.
It makes me less likely to stop staying away from shops as much as possible even if, as I suspect, I fall into the group that’s exempt.

Yeah, I’ve heard about the badges, @Ahhh Girl, trouble is that they don’t count as legal proof and there’s no requirement to prove your exempt status to get one.

Kind of like the situation with service dogs. Anyone can get a “badge” that says their dog is a service dog.

Apparently people are using phony mask exemption permits in the U.S. which claim to be issued by the non-existent “Freedom To Breathe Agency.” The lengths to which people will go to avoid having to give a damn about the health of others. (Obviously I don’t mean people with legitimate breathing trouble!)

It’s the problem with having no official government scheme for recognising those with health issues which make the wearing of masks very difficult or impossible, @Pablo Ramon. I had a chat with the guy who runs the the little local shop I use most yesterday about it, and because he’s seen me struggling with my breathing many times, he’s said he has no problems with me being unmasked.
It’s so annoying to see those who can easily use masks not bothering, making things more difficult for those of us who struggle. I tried a mask yesterday at home, just sitting on the sofa, and lasted a couple of minutes before I started struggling to breathe. Difficult to know how I’d manage a supermarket shop.

On a more cheerful note, Captain Tom Moore will be knighted by the Queen tomorrow (17 July) at Windsor Castle in a personal ceremony. While all other Investitures are on hold due to the virus, an exception has been made for him. She rarely performs these ceremonies herself in recent years, leaving it to the younger Royals, and has yet to break self-isolation, but for Captain Tom she’s wanting to.
Tomorrow it will be “Arise Captain Sir Thomas Moore” (though doubt he’ll be asked to actually kneel). Nice to see the Queen want to perform the ceremony herself, and not waiting for Investiture ceremonies to be restarted.

^ and there’s a sculpture of the grand now https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ne…..s-him.html
“Mr McBride (the person who commissioned the sculpture) hopes the bust can be displayed at the headquarters of NHS Charities Together, the charity the centenarian raised money for.”

I was tested last Wednesday and was told to self quarantine until they called me back with my results, but they didn’t tell me that they only call back if the results are positive. I wasn’t really quarantining anyways, but they’re doing people bogus. I would still be in isolation right now if I was following their directions and didn’t hear from somebody else that they only call back for positive test results.

Surely if you’ve been told to self-quarantine then you should fully until you know it’s safe to go out. The numbers are scary, it’s easy to pass it on to others and the risks of not following the rules are insane so to go out when told not to is idiotic. A few days stuck inside seeing no one when you are clear is little price when the risk could be massive. That the system may be bordering on crap in some circumstances is just tough.

I could see how that looks bad on me from my post, but the chest pain I was having that I mentioned in the other thread had come back for a couple days (though not nearly as bad). Since I had been experiencing the same thing a few weeks prior with no other symptoms (from me or anybody I’m in regular close contact with), I didn’t think it would have been COVID. I also told my employers about the situation to make sure they were still okay with me coming in, and stayed away from my grandparents to be on the safe side.

Signs that cases are slowly increasing in number. I’m now settled on not going anywhere for a good while, not worth running the risk of public transport just to get some shopping in Glasgow or spend a day at the beach surrounded by people.
