Why would they name it that? I’ve seen this before and it’s so much better when it’s a surprise.
Also, on an unrelated note, my cat has been sneezing quite a bit recently, should I be worried?

It’s from her YT channel, @50yearslate, so the video title is hers. Could be because others have ripped off the idea and she wanted to stake her claim to being the original.

Seeing as Der Spiegel is getting a mention, there’s a very funny series (but quite sad as well) they produced about a Penny-Markt supermarket that is slap bang in the middle of the Reeperbahn.
It’s hilarious but unfortunately you have to a high standard of German to understand it as the people are either drunk and therefore slurring their speech or drunk and speaking in a dialect.

Not really, my cat does that occasionally.
It just means it’s probably dustier where the cat goes.

Paul Simon posted this English/Welsh language version of Bridge Over Troubled Water, performed by Gweithwyr NHS Workers, Conwy County Borough Council Staff Choir and others, on his YouTube channel yesterday.
Here is an extraordinary performance of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ by the brave men and women from NHS in honor of the Llandudno’s Venu Cymru, which has been turned into a temporary coronavirus hospital. During this process, the facility has been renamed to Ysbyty Enfys, which is Welsh for Rainbow Hospital, as a symbol for hope.
There’s some talking heads at the beginning but I’ve got it starting at the beginning of the song…

Just got word from my manager that this summer the pool where I work will not be opening at all, indefinitely. Welp there goes my $11/hour and paid breaks/guard drills and flexible scheduling. It’s good for the overall grand scheme of things and I’m kind of grateful that they closed because then we wouldn’t have to deal with idiots who ignore social distancing and basic public health etiquette, and thus fewer people are at risk of getting sick, but it just sucks because now I have to find another job for this summer But at least I have a ton of money saved up from last summer and I’m glad that my mom prevented me from ever trying to dip into my savings this year lmao, and I guess I have my tax return to look forward to.

Sad to hear that, @lovelyritametermaid, even without the idiots, difficult to see how lifeguards could rescue someone if needed and practice physical distancing.
Here’s the police having to step in and break up a crowd who are clearly breaking physical distancing rules…

Great song, although it’s a shame they forgot to mention how Trump tried to suspend habeas corpus (which would crowd our prisons with the disease) in spite of the fact that he thinks this is “just like the flu”. If they had mentioned that, it would’ve made him bad to the anti-lockdown people as well.

I went to go see my great grandma yesterday and was not prepared to see how bad she looks. I last saw her about a month ago and she was doing fine. When this quarantine started, I thought it was really important for the family stay away from her since she’s high risk, but I don’t think that would make any sense to do anymore. Who knows how long this is going to last. They’re talking about extending it until the end of June. If she goes to give me a hug, how can I turn that down? That might be the last hug I get from her.
I’m really starting to be over this quarantine. The whole point of it wasn’t to get rid of the virus. That will not happen until we have a vaccine. The reason for it was to stop the hospitals from being hit all at once, and I think that we have already accomplished that. It’s getting kind of ridiculous. You can’t just keep the world locked down forever. A vaccine could take years.

Oof, I feel ya @Little Piggy Dragonguy. My great grandma had a mild fall recently and my dad said she “didn’t sound so good” (she’s ever-so-slightly hyperchondriac so that doesn’t help) and we really need to visit her. My state is beginning to open up, and Georgia (where my relatives live) has already opened up, so hopefully we’ll be able to see her soon, but my heart goes out to people in places that are still locked down who can’t go out or visit geriatric relatives or therapists/gyms to deal with mental/physical health or get life-saving elective surgeries such as heart surgeries or frickin’ put food on the table or want to yeet themselves due to any combination of factors…

Well stated. I’ve been holding my tongue, but I’m glad someone said it

I think we’re all over the lockdowns and quarantine, it’s just finding a way out that doesn’t lead to mass deaths, finding the new normal. More Americans have died from COVID-19 in the last few weeks than were killed in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan combined, and that’s with physical distancing and lockdowns in place. We can’t just go back to how everything was before the virus.

I agree that we can’t just go back to normal, but they could start opening back up some things.

I’m as stir crazy as the next guy, but it’s already apparent that given an inch people will take a mile, and many people are not following even the most basic guidelines. I fully expect a second spike over the next month with a much higher infection rate and death toll and significantly worse economic effects. If the federal government had taken ANY leadership in guiding the country to a safer path, this would be far less of an issue.

And then everyone will think “oh good it’s over back to normal we go,” social distancing will be out the window, and the just-coming-back-down curve will shoot right back up again.

Are you saying that you think it’s a bad idea to phase out of quarantine when it ends? I think phasing out would be the safest. If people want to get together they will regardless of how strict or lax the rules are. They have caution tape around the playgrounds by me and signs saying that they’re closed. I still see people there with their kids every day the weather’s nice. I have a few acquaintances who are posting things on snapchat with different people almost every day of the week. Wisconsin opened up bars and people are driving there from Illinois to go out drinking. Social distancing is already out the window for the people who will think that way.
