Well, I’m back at work after a nice 2 week hiatus. Thankfully I just got a 4 day work week (Good Friday), then off for 2 weeks again.  Sucks being “essential”, but at least we’ve been lucky enough to rotate.

Thank god I have internet at work….heart

I’ve decided to make the effort to be a person again and wear real clothes (jeans and a nice t-shirt), instead of what I’ve been wearing– soft sweatpants and an old t-shirt (an ensemble that is very close to being pajamas). I’ve still kept my slippers on though ahdn_john_08_gif

I also just realized that I haven’t worn makeup in over 2 weeks. Will I even remember how to do my eyeshadow and eyeliner when society returns to normal? What if my mascara gets all clotty in the tube and I have to go out and buy a new one? And I feel bad for just letting all of my lovely lipsticks sit in a drawer……

I usually put on Real Clothes around noon to motivate myself to get my homework done, but otherwise it’s pajamas all the time. And I don’t really wear makeup, but I’ll put on lip gloss for a Zoom call. (Even though I never turn my camera on, ha)

Just breaking, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to intensive care at St. Thomas’ Hospital in case he needs to be put on a ventilator after his condition got worse this afternoon.

I wonder will he appreciate the NHS more, after the years and years of cuts that the Tories have made, under the lie of “austerity”? Would he now be willing to look at the photo of the boy with suspected pneumonia sleeping on the hospital floor?

Unfortunately, I doubt it.

I’m not a great fan of our Prime Minister, as is no secret, but I do not think political criticism is quite right at this moment.

It is significant that he has been moved to an intensive care bed at a time when there is so much pressure on them, and there is talk that he may need to ventilated. Three-quarters of COVID-19 patients moved to ICU are put on a ventilator within 24 hours.

He is obviously pretty seriously ill, and while I have disagreed with his politics a lot over the years, I find the glee and nastiness being expressed by too many on Twitter appalling. Not a time for political point scoring in my opinion.

I wish the man all the best, I’d never wish anyone dead. I’m thinking of his fiancée and their child as well and I hope she’s doing well. Having had someone close to me recently in ICU with coronavirus, it’s not a pleasant experience for anyone.

I hope he gets through this and the Conservatives realise the value of the NHS and stop letting the party hack away at it like a piece of meat. His nonchalance to the virus at the beginning of this probably put him in the experience that he’s currently in and I hope it’s a wake-up call for everyone that if the PM can get it and be put in ICU, then anyone can get it.

I couldn’t agree more.

Our national broadcasting corporation (ABC) is usually really good with this sort of thing. In their COVID-19 special last week, the reporter kept trying to score political points against Scott Morrison. I was so fed up with it I sent them an official complaint. Haven’t heard back yet…

Hope Boris recovers so he can resume trying to lead the UK through these awful times.

I’m not a fan of his but neither do I want him to die, I don’t want anyone to die from this regardless of their backgrounds/beliefs et. Don’t think there is anyone I would wish death on. I can see where the opposing view comes from tho and they are not a surprise and, for me, it’s no worse than the hypocrites who will now come out and say what a wonderful person and hero he is when ten minutes before the news broke they’d be livid at the first syllable of his name and howling for his head.

Hopefully, on here, we can avoid any conversations and comments on his previous actions, comments, voting habits,  lifestyle etc as in these circumstances it’s not the time or place.

A nice veterinarian lady in my neighborhood is making face masks (quality ones made with the right material) and is giving them out free-of-charge to essential workers, healthcare workers, the elderly, and the high-risk in my township as well as the surrounding areas.

Lovelymother just went out to pick some up from her (from the doorstep and then sprayed them with disinfectant) for my grandmother (who is considered an essential worker at the township’s municipal building) and her coworkers.

Today’s Nasty Coranavirus Album of the Day, Paloma Faith’s remarkable (in my opinion) debut, Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful? from 2009.

An album of love, life and heartache. Incredibly brassy and ballsy, making music from an earlier age relevant again. Her confidence and command are remarkable.

That surprised me – it felt more like it was made in the 80s, maybe 90s… to find out it was done in 2009 was quite a shock! That might just be some recent pop music that I enjoy! Instrumental that actually feel like they were played by musicians are few and far between from the last 10 or 15 years, so that’s pretty cool. I grew to like her style of singing over the album, it suits quite well. She’s done very, very well for a debut album there.

Now, as I let Play On play on until the end, I wonder what I’ll do next today…

Sorry, that joke was awful but I felt I had to make it.paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif

I find the sign language interpreters during official announcements hypnotising. Some of them get well into it- you except them to start break-dancing about 1/2 way through the press conference.

I took Ethics last spring and we had a deaf kid in the class, so he had a couple of sign-language interpreters standing in front of the class translating the lecture. Believe me when I tell you that I had to make sure I was taking notes/doodling in my notebook so I wouldn’t get totally distracted by their dancing fingers. a-hard-days-night-paul-10

I’ve been working still.  However instead of passing out free samples we are just deep cleaning the whole store.  It’s a bit scary to go out.  Then again we are always with a bottle of cleaning sanitizer when we are working in the store, so if anyone gets too close we can always just spray them.

What permanent changes does everybody think will ensue from this pandemic? After all, this will hardly be the last bug to go around.
