Let’s Go Away for Awhile is one of my favourite 2-minute pieces of music ever
And when I started seeing rankings of the tracks I couldn’t believe my eyes at the fact they usually put it near the bottom. Like, not even top 3smh I understand not having the vocals of the boys might be offputting to many, but the instrumental arrangements on that track is just gorgeous with a capital G.
Those two and I’m Waiting for the Day are my favourites. I love every track on Pet Sounds to some degree but I’ve always had a vastly different preferences when it came to the tracklist itself. I’d put Sloop John B, God Only Knows and Caroline No probably at the bottom. Great tracks, as it is Pet Sounds, but yeah

My favorite Pet Sounds track hasnt been mentioned: That’s Not Me. “My folks when I wrote them told em what I was up to said That’s Not Me, I went through all kinds of changes took a look at myself and said that’s not me.” The best thing about the entire album is Brian’s melodic phrasing of Tony Asher’s simple yet soulful lyrics

Let’s Go Away For Awhile is indeed top 3 for me, alongside I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times and probablyyyy Don’t Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)
Although God Only Knows / Wouldn’t It Be Nice are both incredible, maybe it’s just the familiarity that makes me not put them higher. Wouldn’t it be nice (pun intended) to hear these tracks for the first time again?!

John Cusack was pretty weak in Love and Mercy, but Paul Dano was AMAZING as the early sixties Brian. The dialogue in the studio is ripped directly from the sessions that I own and have listened to so many times. It was such a joy to watch. The scene where he is plucking piano string with a hairpin is so damn cool. Every sound that is heard during this period was engineered by the mad genius Brian, yet while some of the parts can sound punchy and chaotic, the sum of the parts is that beautiful harmony and brilliantly creative instrumentation. The movie does a good job showing that, and also does a decent job with Brian and his father Murray’s relationship.

Yeah, Paul Dano nails Brian’s mannerisms ridiculously well. I think Sam Riley as Ian Curtis in Control is the only musical biopic performance I’ve seen that comes close.

I must confess that there is a very real danger that I may become like George Harrison on 1967, only playing guitar to record or with the band, because I a m b e c o m e B A S S I S T

I don’t. And I’ve found I’ve been more attacked because of it more than people who do like it. So I guess that’s MY confession.
I believe that it’s because “disliking pineapple pizza” it’s such an old, corny, cliché stand-up joke that by now, “liking pineapple pizza” is the edgy stans, so, at least from were I’m standing, disliking pineapple pizza is now more frowned upon.
Kind of like thinking Sgt. Pepper ‘s is a good album. Most people make a big deal of themselves when they dislike because it is so beloved (and it is well known by those who like it that the magic of it doesn’t present itself right away), which with time has made that liking Sgt. Pepper is ever more rare than dislking it, given the minority that does dislike it is so vocal.

I support your dislike of pineapple pizza while myself liking pineapple pizza. We can agree to disagree and I really don’t care

Took me quite a while to realise people here saying ‘Forumpudlians’ was a play on ‘Liverpudlians’ i.e. people from Liverpool.

The ways of the Beatle people are quaint.
