Oh-oh @Beatlebug, I misunderstood. I’m not sure what he or she is confessing but if they are a kid, I doubt they want to know more about the furry culture. I’ll change the post around just in case they come back.

I don’t think he or she is a child. There’s a surprisingly large adult MLP fanbase.

I know of an adult MLP collector (an acquaintance) who got so into collecting ponies that she stopped caring for her child and gave it to her parents so she could focus on her ponies.

That poor child. Somebody who pawns their kid off onto their parents to have more time to collect children toys probably wasn’t caring for the child even before abandoning them.

Those things have always creeped me out. Like these are normal, grown-ass women and men that get stuck into this MLP culture and furries and all that stuff. You know, people who you wouldn’t think would fall for that.
It’s really weird, I always wonder if there’s like some really dark, psychological, freudian, explainable reason why these people turn into children all of the sudden and start worshiping this types of things. I worry day after day that some day I might end up watching a MLP episode somehow and something in my mind just overheats and I get sucked into it. Like why does that s**t matter to so many people?

My dad and I have both been substantially MLP-brainwashed by my kid sister, and we’re both fine. I don’t think it’s as contagious as COVID-19.

I could say more “interesting” things about this person but I will refrain.

I don’t know. I just think it’s better to let people do what they want to do and express themselves, even if it’s in a manner that comes across as weird to the outsider.

I’m inclined to agree with Qman, generally, as long as they’re not unhealthily obsessed, like the person ExTex mentioned. But I’m not going to deny that it can seem strange/worthy of ridicule from the outside looking in. Just remember that lots of people probably think we Beatlemaniacs here on the BB are fairly crazy

I think it’s really sad that people hit a certain age and decide that they’re too old to enjoy things they did when they were a kid. If I want to climb a tree or play tag or go to a trampoline park I have to do it with my little cousins because it seems everybody my age is too cool for that.

It’s really sad that so many kids in my generation are already acting like they’re 21 at the age of freaking 13. Girls are wearing clothes so inappropriate for their age in middle school nowadays– I’m all for expression through style and clothing, but that doesn’t mean act and dress like a college-age girl when you’re not even in high school yet. Younger high-schoolers are so entitled too– using arrogance and know-it-all personalities as defense mechanisms and to come across as more mature, even when they just come across as rude and immature. Kids are growing up too fast because of pressure to be like their idols (social media influencers and the like)– it’s saddening, really. And the worst part is that at my high school you get picked on for acting like a normal 14-year-old and for exploring yourself and your interests and listening to your teachers and entrusting your older peers for help. No one in high school can be vulnerable until they become a junior or senior, because you’re last two years are when your fellow peers have stopped giving a s**t and your younger peers start to look to you as remodels.
And I relate you’re point, Lil’ Piggy, about how you get judged for doing things that are “too juvenile” and I think such arises from other people being too insecure about their own maturity that they feel the need to attack and “correct” others’ in order to seem like the “bigger” person. But the fact of the matter is that maturity isn’t based on interests or such, but on one’s attitude and actions towards their life and other people.
