Why didn’t George deserve Olivia? Why was she “no saint”? I know nothing about the subject.
“Forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit” (“Perhaps one day it will be a pleasure to look back on even this”; Virgil, The Aeneid, Book 1, line 203, where Aeneas says this to his men after the shipwreck that put them on the shores of Africa)

George cheated on her. She made vague references to that in the Living In The Material World docu, but what did she do?
And no one is a saint, obviously. Except from saints. Obviously.

And even some saints weren’t saintlike like Thomas More but that’s for another day…
George repeatedly cheated on Olivia and openly too, he had a ridiculously bad commitment problem. I remember reading somewhere that within 6 months of him marrying Pattie he had already cheated on her, I can’t confirm the source but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was true.
All you have to do is think of the first chapter I posted from Klaus’ book, he had an irresistible charm around women and he used it to his advantage with seemingly no guilt or fear of repercussion.
But at the end of the day I think he really did love Olivia and that they were meant to be together.

An open relationship was best for George. As long as he was upfront to Olivia about it and she agreed then it is all good

Good on you!
Here’s a confession relating to SG’s comment:
If there’s one thing I hate it’s teenagers deciding once they go to secondary school or middle school or whatever (basically once they hit 12/13) they all have to act “grown-up” and “mature”. You’re still a child and there’s no reason why you should give up things that you love or like doing just because you’ve gone on to second level education. I could go on further but then I’ll get too het-up
