I’ve ordered my Christmas tree and stand. 100% real, around 6ft tall and arriving around the 17th December so it’s alive and happy on the main day. Next is getting decorations and any guff I like so they can go up around the 13th December.

got this CD in a white elephant exchange, and I actually enjoyed it.

Speaking of enjoying songs, “Christmas Time Is Here Again ” is actually a pretty good song. Melody Harmony and instrumental are all on point. Wouldn’t expect anything less of the greatest band ever to grace this universe.

There are so many Christmas songs that get played every year that are damn awful and the 1995 edit of ‘Christmas Time (Is Here Again)’ is not close to being one of them. It’s a pretty damn good song which fits very well around all the other Christmas songs, not that the standard is that high at times.

I generally discover one new Christmas song that I like every year; last year was was Dolly Parton’s Hard Candy Christmas’, this year it’s Lady A’s ‘Holly Jolly Christmas’ (apologies for the appearance of their former name in the video but it was uploaded a couple of years ago before they changed it). The nod to Peanuts in the video is subtle but brilliant.

Yes!!! I really do love “Holly Jolly Christmas”; it’s definitely one of my favourites. “Silver And Gold” is another great one (Burl Ives just had a great voice for Christmas songs, I suppose). Honestly, the whole Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer soundtrack is a good listen, although part of that might be the strong nostalgia I get from it.

But as for my top favourite Christmas song…

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 Cool @WeepingAtlasCedars, I just happened to have come across this video from a 2000 tv special. I saw Tom live 4 or 5 times, but I don’t remember him ever wearing this particular hairstyle.

The Jonas Brothers have released two Christmas songs this year and I couldn’t be happier. I also discovered how much I love Mariah Carey’s Christmas album last summer. I’ve always liked All I Want For Christmas Is You, but the whole album is a masterpiece. I probably listen to it at least once a week. Doesn’t matter what time of year.

Oh, neat! I had no idea they ever played it live. Thanks much for sharing, sb! john-lennon-salute_gif

And yeah, the hairstyle is… an interesting choice. Looking back on photos from the 2000s it seems Tom had a few, erm… highly questionable hairstyle choices. ahdn_paul_01But he and the band still sounded great, which is what matters, of course!

Me and my family got a tree this past weekend and decorated it! We usually get a fraser fir, but this year we found a lovely balsam fir just still does the trick!

I also got a mini Christmas tree for my room! It’s a dwarf alberta spruce and it’s just about he cutest thing ever! I have yet to name it.
