Boxing Day… remember when I was missing for maybe five hours last Boxing Day and a search party formed in the Whatever Happened To thread?

Can’t believe people already have their decorations up! I mean, I like to get in the spirit too, but isn’t it a bit early?

Beatlebug, 50yearslate, WeepingAtlasCedarsI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

It’s officially the 26th October, only days to go Christmas, the shops are selling all the normal guff and you can now watch tv music channels throwing out the same 24 songs repeatedly 24/7 for your nightmares to feel alive so why not post in here.
With little chance of a normal Christmas happening this year with being around both people you like and cannot stand, what will be your plans for the days, knowing that all could change constantly between then and now?
For the last few years, if not working (which I did last year), I have gone to a hotel. This year, however, that is almost certainly not happening so I plan to jump in all things Christmas; real tree, decorations, proper cooking and going for walks to pass the days. I will not be seeing anyone and no one will be coming around so it’s either that or sitting in the dark for three days with the curtains closed, wishing every second would get a move on passing so I can move onto the misery of New Year.

Treat yourself mmm, you’ve more than earned it.
As for my family… Well, it’s looking more and more like we’ll have eliminated covid by Christmas, so family gatherings will be allowed here.
The big problem is, last christmas I had 3 grandparents. This Christmas I’ll have 1.
So who knows what will happen, we’ve barely talked about it. As long as I get to make my annual pavlova I don’t really care

I refuse to think about Christmas certainly until after Halloween, and even Thanksgiving because I’m that extra

I, myself, don’t generally like to get into Christmas spirit all too much until maybe around December 1st. The very earliest I think is acceptable to start with anything Christmas at all is after Remembrance Day is over (after November 11th). Anything before that I think would just be disrespectful, and of course I don’t want to start dreading the whole thing, either.
As for my holiday plans, I’m assuming they’ll be very similar to what they always are. I don’t have a very large family, and a lot of the family I do have lives too far away to just pop by for a visit, so we usually just have my uncle and/or one of my dad’s friends come over for dinner. Therefore, the only real differences will be that we’ll likely just have those in the household, and that we’ll probably be doing more gift shopping online. Everything else should remain the same (bar figuring out where to put the decorations in the new house, but that’s unrelated).

My parents moved apart and the family home was sold this year. Covid obviously still being a big issue in the UK means we probably couldn’t all be together (with my parents, siblings, all the partners and kids, there would be 11 of us) – but actually Christmas was always going to look very different and separated this year! We still haven’t made a solid plan, and I think I’m just going to go with the flow as much as possible.
What’s nice is, me and my boyfriend (Mr Kelicopter?) are both not working between Christmas and New Year, so that’s the bit I’m most excited for. We’ll be going for winter walks, eating good food, watching movies and chilling with the cat.

Thank you! It’s far too early for this thread to be opened! It’s October— even the stores haven’t started decorating for Christmas yet and they’re often extremely overzealous when it comes to early decorating, so that is really saying something.
Love one another.

It’s been a strange odd year, this is yet another incidence.
It will be Christmas, I plan to eat tons of crap and explode in a homage to Mr Creosote.

I have no clue what my family plans on doing for X-mas this year– as to quote David Byrne in “Mind”: Everything seems to be up in the air at this point
