The drum kit I got for Christmas has been very useful – I now have a tiny amount of the talent Ringo has, as opposed to none before!
Correction: You always had the talent (or not). What you now have that you didn’t previously, my dear fellow, is skill.

My friends and I hung out all New Year’s Day together and we exchanged gifts and things. I have finally succeeded in getting a Beatley thing for Christmas this year and that was:
A 3D print of the Abbey Road cover they move when I look at it at different angles- pretty sweet.
I also got a snowy owl who I immediately called Hedwig, a finger puppet of an old lady and a snowflake cookie scented candle, a unicorn ornament and some Pikachu slipper-socks.
Good haul lads, good haul.

I got the Lennonology book, three Joanna Newsom albums on CD (two that I already had on vinyl), a graphic novel about Stu and Astrid called Baby’s In Black , the first two Robert Plant solo albums, and a Steve Hackett live album.

As is tradition, it’s the 1st of November and ASJ has to reopen this thread.
So…

CHRISTMAS IS COMING LADS, 54 DAYS TO GO!!!!
So this year’s opening question is:

For me?
The jocularity, and how everyone really doesn’t have much of care in the world, at least for a day.
(And the dessert – always a pavlova made by yours truly.)
My god, is it November already?

This is very untraditional but prawns wrapped in bacon on the barbie is my favourite.

^Thanksgiving from a Scotsman?!?! Don’t tell us you’re some kind of East Yank*, mmm!!
*This has now become the European equivalent for ‘West Brit’
Also 2017 marks the first year (in 4 years) that mmm has not been the first person to reply to my opening post with a complaint about getting excited for Christmas in November. Tommo and THGF got there first.

I came here to agree with mmm… then I saw AG’s post.

WHY HAVE I NEVER HAD THEM BEFORE
MY LIFE HAS BEEN LIVED IN VAIN
See what you’ve done, naughty AG? Anyway, I refuse to answer ASJ’s question until a decent amount of November has passed. I can’t even think about Christmas yet — there are still green leaves on the trees!*
*I realise this is very region-specific

We actually usually don’t have anything special for Christmas dinner. It’s usually just a normal dinner.
I'm Necko. I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.
I'm also ewe2 on weekends.
Most likely to post things that make you go hmm... 2015, 2016, 2017.

My favorite part of Christmas dinner is the brussels sprouts. The cookies are always better than the dinner, though. My mom goes hard making cookies every year for Christmas and my grandma and great-grandma come over to help make them with us sometimes. We usually start making them the beginning of December.

No way, that’s my favourite part too!! I didn’t think anyone else would share this view as everyone around me seems to hate them.
My favourite part in general is when I listen to Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker, like every year. (not live, unfortunately)

Beatlebug, Little Piggy DragonguyNot once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Oh, fine… I guess my favourite part is listening to certain important albums (December by George Winston; A Charlie Brown Christmas; both of Mannheim Steamroller’s Christmas albums) whilst decorating. And making things for people.
