I like Brenda Lee’s (is that right?) cover of Jingle Bell Rock. I think it’s because they are so overplayed throughout the month and it seems compulsory to play them.
@trcanberra, are you able to recommend any classical Chistmas pieces that are worthy of a listen?

I mean the overplayed radio stuff. I’ve Got A Feeling (pun intended) that mmm is NOT a great fan of that sort of thing. I don’t mind it in small amounts, at the correct time of year, and it’s fun to watch out for such tunes as ‘Little Saint Nick’, which I quite like, or ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’, or ‘Wonderful Christmas Time’, and logging your Beatley moments as neccessary.

I have around a half-dozen compilations which have classical Christmas music from all around Europe which I like. A few of them are off the covers of the ‘BBC Music’ magazine if you can track them down.
Bach’s Christmas Oratorio is also worth a listen, the Harnoncourt version is quite nice.

Says who? If someone wants to keep Christmas in their heart and mind all year long, I say go for it. Anyone who disagrees may end up having a song sung about them by Thurl Ravenscroft.

There’s a Christmas shop in Blowing Rock, NC that follows this principle. You never hear anyone singing songs about them by Thurl Ravenscroft.

^ And we have a “Christmas in July” party here now and again as it’s so bloody hot at Christmas that it’s sometimes hard to get in the mood at that time.

Christmas in the heat always seems weird to me, but of course the people who live in that climate don’t know better. I’d love a white Christmas, but I must say I’ve only experienced that a few times in my life so far. It’s not very likely. I just think it should be cold on Christmas. For some reason it becomes less fun when it isn’t.
A good friend of mine is half Norwegian and currently lives in Oslo with her dad. Her mom and siblings always fly over for the holidays. They always have snow damnit!

Indeed – when you are spending half of your time trying to keep just a little bit cool it tends to take the gloss off the celebrations.

A lot of songs don’t make sense anymore either. Walking in a winter wonderland? Let it snow? All sort of songs about sleigh riding?

Kohl’s department store is using All Together Now in its Christmas advertisements. I had alread planned to go there to get a new pillow.
