Its nowhere near Christmas. We’re not past Bon Fire night in the UK. The US havent done giving thanks.
I think for the past 2 years, you have been the first one to reply to my Christmas thread-starter and every year it’s nearly always the same response. Maybe we’re all living in a Groundhog’s Day world?
T’is quite funny.
Oh and that better not be SG’s Martin, that’s been destroyed. You’ll have ruined that girl’s Christmas!

Maybe you should take the prompt.
I dont care about ruining Christmas. Its November. All mention of Christmas should be banned.
I wonder if there would be a mod coup if i locked and burned the thread.

Christmas?! How can you talk about Christmas to me?! More like the next ten years of my life!!! (That’s how long it would likely take to pay for another Martin D15m– they go for about twelve hundred new. And anyways, like George says, you get attached to your guitars.)

Come back in 49 days time.
My sweet lord, how could anyone inflict such unutterable evil upon a poor innocent guitar? Oh, the heartlessness! Oh, woe!
My Christmas list this year is about 90% Beatley– I’m wanting With The Beatles , Let It Be , Past Masters , All Things Must Pass , and Wish You Were Here on CD (Little Girl has promised to help out by also asking for a few albums). And that’s all (for material things, at least).

Christmas is all about delicious anticipation …………… I can live with the blatant commercialism and still kindle the childlike wonder from what’s left of few cells in my memory bank.
Make the absolute most of it……..Although I live alone the Tree goes up last Sat in Nov…….Shopping for treats…..Port…….Medoc……Stilton from then on.
Make a mulled wine…Got all the spices and half a bottle of Stones Ginger wine,(can’t buy it here) left from the batch I made last year. Christmas playlist on my iPod …..Sometime over the period I’ll watch ‘Love Actually’……..and listen to The White Album in it’s entirety ………
Lots of other traditions I won’t bore you with………
Tree comes down on Boxing day……..as I say it’s about the anticipation…… Minimalist order is restored a quickly as possible after the 25th…….But I don’t start any diets until January.

How do you know the guitar is innocent?

Now is that time of year where I begin to have an internal struggle about whether it’s okay to listen to Christmas music yet. I have some friends who have strict religious observances about this….for example, no Christmas music during Advent (only Advent music). Almost no one celebrates Christmas for 12 days beginning on the evening of December 24 anymore.

Usually I get some Christmas cheer by early December and decide to play some Christmas tunes but after one or two listens i realise there are very few Christmas songs that are worthy of repeat listening so get bored, give up and its back to normal.
My Christmas cheer runs for about 2 days in total and is usually on its summer holidays by the time the 25th has arrived.

I’m with you on all of this. Since Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, I start getting excited about Christmas the day after.
The only Christmas days that suck are during the years when we go visit our families. Before anybody starts thinking I hate our families let me set you straight. I absolutely adore my family and truly enjoy being around Zag’s. But, when we travel to see them, we spend just about the whole day in the car and eating. We wake up Christmas morning at my father-in-law’s house and have breakfast. Then, we get cleaned up, get dressed and drive over to my brother’s house for brunch. After that, we drive to my mother-in-law’s (yes, they are divorced) where she feeds us lunch. We then drive back to Zag’s dad’s, already stuffed and wiped out, to rally until it’s time to drive over to my parents for dinner. It is soooooo exhausting. Why can’t we all just gather at one place? Bah! Humbug!
When we stay home for Christmas, we wake up and make a pot of coffee, still clad in pajamas. We then open up our presents, watch the dog go crazy amongst the pile of wrapping paper, make a pitcher of mimosas and cook a nice breakfast, still wearing those pajamas. After that, we veg out on the couch watching Christmas type stuff after showering and donning a clean pair of pajamas. That, my fellow Forumpudlians, is a wonderful life.

There is a lot of very good classical music to suit the season.

@meanmistermustard ye old humbug, why don’t you try some traditionalish-type carols, i.e., ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’, instead of the jingle bell rock type rubbish? One of the many holy traditions practised by me and my monkeys is the studied listening and re-listening of this every year:
It never fails to get us into the mood.
