I was in Macy’s earlier today. They put some knid of synthesized beat music in the background of Bing Crosby singing White Christmas.

That will be the 2012 Dub mix from the album ‘Bing Crosby and his Homies: 23 Classics Reinvented’.
Sounds as brilliant as when the Beach Boys and Fatboy Slim did a remake of Wipeout (yes, it was as awful as it sounds – but was a surprise hit for them).

Johnny Cash has a remixed album as was, its an atrocity. I posted ‘Folsom Prison Blues‘ elsewhere, here is another tribute:

I’ve managed to avoid listening to that until now, but curiousity finally gave in… That’s horrible…
“Li-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ne…”
Crap… the rap just started…

To escape that monstrosity ^
Any traditional Christmas songs (in any languages) that anyone wants to share?
There is an absolute horrible translation of Jingle Bells in Irish which is very cute when children sing it, anyways else….no.
This is saying it wrong though it should be “anocht-tonight” not “anois-now” why would Santa come when everyone is still awake derp!
Anyhoo this is how it was put into the native tongue:
“Clap your hands, clap your hands
Everyone clap your hands
Santa Claus is coming (tonight), down the chimney
Oh clap your hands, clap your hands
Santa Claus is coming (tonight), down the chimney”.
Oh and the direct translation of Santa in Irish is a copy of the traditional English name for him “Daidí na Nollag”- Daddy of Christmas- Father Christmas

Santa has been arrested in Glasgow and issued with a fine.
Good to see we have the right idea on how to deal with the whole Christmas/Santa issue.

Santa has a lot to answer for, like bratty kids expecting lots of presents every fecking year thereby forcing their parents to spend, spend, spend.
I have always disliked Christmas – I am not a big fan of Pagan festivals

Does that cut out all Christian festivals? I think they were all pretty piggybacked of pagan festivals that were in place.

Pretty much, and not because of any religious reasons. I find that there is a false sense of camaraderie floating around where everyone pretends they are everyone’s best mates for a few days before they all go back to their usual self-centred existence. Yes, I’m a cynic at times

But look what that does to the economy! Santa’s a real positive to growth!

I hear what you are saying. At the same time, if this is the only time of year there is any sense of camaraderie, it is an argument for the side of “Christmas is the best time of year”. I will take it any time I can get it and will defend that to my last breath.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Cheers – I will happily join in if it is genuine – most of the time it is not. Sometimes it does encourage genuine emotions though – so not to be sniffed at.
