A quick heads-up for the three other christmas threads that are out there in the wild expanse of the forum that folk might find of interest in the build up to the festive period.
Only just heard this and it immediately goes into the ‘so bizarre it’s good pile’ – Bob Dylan singing ‘It Must Be Santa’.

Yip. You can already buy all that christmas crap in stores and no doubt some stores are blaring out ‘White Christmas’ and ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ as i type.

I can’t wait to listen to all the Christmas records again!! I love them so much (hence my signature)…
Although, truth be told, I have been known to listen to these albums when it is no where near Christmas. They are too damn funny.
"Please don't bring your banjo back, I know where it's been.. I wasn't hardly gone a day, when it became the scene.. Banjos! Banjos! All the time, I can't forget that tune.. and if I ever see another banjo, I'm going out and buy a big balloon!"

Was the Elvis ornament on the Halloween or Christmas aisle, @Expert Textpert?

A cartoon for folk to watch; ‘Father Christmas’ by Raymond Briggs, voiced by Mel Smith, which, in my opinion, shades the other excellent Raymond Briggs creation ‘The Snowman‘. It’s about a year in the life of Santa. These are staples of Christmas tv in the UK for millions of people.

LOL, good question. Many do dress as Elvis for Halloween. But of course it was on the Christmas side–here in the USA we consider Elvis a saint.
Really, though–there is always a ton of Elvis stuff in the stores at Christmas.

I want an Elvis decorated Christmas tree! One of my friend’s does a Disney-theme.
I saw my first Christmas ad today for Littlewoods (an online clothing shop) and my first Christmas film (on a non-Christmas station) Miracle on 34th Street. Now even I think that’s bloody too early!
What are y’alls favourite Christmas ads?
I have a fondness for these Coke and Kellogg’s ads which run every single Christmas in my homeland.

Oh I do remember seeing that this year, I think I still watched it though
I have a fear of after-shave (not that I need to use it ) from that film- literally I can not touch it in case it burns me, I know it won’t but still!

Delighted to see ‘We All Stand Together’ getting some credit. It’s a brilliant incorrectedly overlooked track with a great orchestral score by George Martin and some fabulous lyrics by Paul yet most folk slate it for the “bum, bum, bum” parts, generally not having heard it themselves.
Still won’t buy anything from Debenhams tho as they sell overpriced tat.

Home Alone was aired on tv in June this year. JUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s a fecking christmas movie.
I watch it all year round. I get your point though.
I went to Lowes, its a big box store for like home supplies and tools, in early October and they already had the Christmas isles set up. They just had like this one little section for Halloween. Makes me a bit sad because years ago I remember they use to have some of the best outside Halloween decor. Its like they are trying to skip over Halloween and Thanksgiving all together. Its already bad enough stores are opening on Thanksgiving. Its suppose to be a family holiday. But, its about the greed.

I just ordered my mom’s Christmas presents from Amazon. I remembered to use the link for Joe.
Just a reminder, if you click on the Amazon link in the signatures (mine, Joe’s, Zig’s, Matt Busby’s, Mr. Kite’s) while on a PC, you will go to the regular Amazon site.
It is easy from there to change the drop down menu to “all departments” or to the department you need (if you are looking for something other than CDs and Vinyl).
If you click on one of those links while on a mobile device, you will be directed to Amazon’s music download site.
I don’t know of a way to get from there to the other departments.
Also, the link will take you to your country’s Amazon page (.com, .co.uk, etc.)

I’m sure this is some kind of double heresy, but I always say the only Christmas song worth a damn is the Beach Boys ‘ Little St. Nick. It is just so Beach Boyey; and how can you dislike a song that has these deathless lyrics:
Christmas comes this time each year
Oooooooo oooooooo
I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.
