Not too big into the Christmas tunes. But there are a few that I don’t mind listening to.

Wonderful Christmastime -Wings (yeah, I know..)

Happy Xmas (War is Over)-John Lennon

Step into Christmas-Elton John

Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)-Joey Ramone

Not into christmas music myself there are a few but not many. I get the urge once to play certain tracks but thats about it. Will be loading the beatles stuff onto my ipod soon tho. Including below, not heard it yet but its meant to be quite something.

My only problem with Christmas music is that radio stations constantly play them. I appreciate them when I don’t turn on the radio in my car, and wait until December 24th and 25th.

Totally agree. Even with shops it wouldnt be so bad if they played a wide variety but you only ever hear about 20 different ones in total and so end up hearing Slade 7 times in 1 day if youre out and about.

Must say im a sucker for Jive Bunny’s megamix Let’s Party, played this when young and it was amazing. Still is, especially with Noddy Holders scream of “It’s Christmas” opening it, for years i couldnt figure out why that wasnt at the start of the Slade song until i rediscovered Jive Bunny a few years back.

War is Over is my favorite song! I NEVER get tired of hearing it! I’m super excited this Christmas compared to the rest. I’m getting my class ring, which I’m proud to admit will make me look like a hippie. I plan to have more rings than Ringo xD

I’m also excited for New Years. My resolution is to completely change who I am for as long as I can. I am slowly becoming a hippie, so I decided, hey, my favorite hippies are The Beatles, so why not start acting like my favorite people? My friends say that if we were all Beatles, I would be Ringo without a doubt, so I guess I’ll be Ringo this year. Funny, considering I’m a guitar player. Ah, the only thing that could possibly make this time better is if there was snow. The part of Ohio I’m in hasn’t gotten ANY snow this year, which has certainly killed my spirit a bit. I guess it can’t be helped. Merry christmahanukwanza!

"I'd tell her I love her, but she'd only reject me in the end and I'd be frustrated. That's why I play guitar; it's my active compensatory factor" -Ringo said something like this once, I changed it up a bit.

I love Christmas. I actually love it so much my mom always calls me ”Christmas lady”

She let me decorate the whole house, which I enjoyed.

On Christmas we usually have breakfast together with lots of things we usually don’t eat, with Christmas songs playing in the background of course. Then we all just get dressed fancy and play a game together. Then we watch some Christmas movie, then we go to church to watch the local male choir sing, after that we head home again and wait for dinner, which is a very big meal with soup, shrimp cocktails, salads, potatoes, vegetables, all kinds of meat, pudding and ice cream and a lot of other things. After that we usually watch a Christmas special from some show and/or another Christmas movie and we have pie and crackers with french cheese and wine.

We used to celebrate it at my grandma’s with all of my aunts, uncles and cousins, but since my grandpa died everyone celebrates it at home. We always have my grandma come over all day long though.

We’ve also gone out for dinner a few times, but it was never as cosy and wonderful as at home.

We don’t do presents, since in Holland we got Sinterklaas for that.

Christmas would be better if they didn’t play that damn Wonderful X Time all the time, and no other song of his really get any airplay around here. What a shame. If they could play War is Over instead I would be happy…

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 Agreed. The only time I hear War is Over is when I pop in my John Lennon CD.

Unlike previous years, I have actually been hearing War is Over on the radio, and it wasn’t even on the day that John Lennon died. I was very surprised. I wish George and/or Ringo had recored Christmas songs. I wonder how often they would get played if they existed.

I’ve been hearing it a lot too. I’ve also heard We all stand together and Once Upon A Long Ago a lot lately. Wonderful Christmas Time..not that much.

These songs get a lot of airplay, which is good, because I like them better than Mariah Carey and Wham -__-

George recorded and released Ding Dong Ding Dong which is at times referred to as a Christmas song but its more fitting to the New Year, id be amazed if you ever heard it on the radio.

Ringo recorded a christmas album in 1999 called ‘I Wanna Be Santa Claus’ which is available for download on itunes and other places.

The Halloween decorations are bundled away and a sense of Christmassy-merriness is sweeping throughout the forum. With only 54 days ’til Christmas, we shall giddily count down the minutes until Santa Claus leaves presents beneath the tree (a deluxe copy of Lewisohn’s books perhaps). Here shall be the thread with the Christmas songs, carolling, drinking and general happiness enjoy.

Enjoy

What is on all of your Christmas lists? If Santa is good it’ll be an all-Beatley/George Christmas in the ASJ household.

Top 3 Christmas films

  • The Grinch (with Jim Carrey)
  • Scrooged (with Bill Murray)
  • The Muppets Christmas Carol

I’ve got Tune In Deluxe coming as my christmas present (to be opened as near the 14th November as possible depending on delivery) tho i’ll probably get other stuff as a surprise (which will surely be Beatles related).

(note: oh, Blue Gingerbread Meanie in pic, i might well just attempt making that)

And finally for now one of the best christmas songs ever. That’s EVER!!!!!

Am I the only one who prefers McCartney’s ‘Wonderful Xmas Time’ over Lennon’s ‘Merry Xmas (The war is over)’?

Anyway, my top films would have to be(hmmm there are so many, but here’s a few)

Home alone (1,2)

The snowman

I’ve never seen Elf but apparently it’s brilliant

I’ve merged the two Christmas threads because it doesn’t make much sense to have two separate ones to me, when this one has always been used since the thread was created.

So far

The mono box set, even though I already own the albums.

Help blu ray, possibly

Roseanne: The Complete series

Probably a few movies

NEW, if I don’t buy the vinyl version before hand.

Whatever I don’t get for my birthday and anniversary (both in December) go on the Christmas list. It has always worked this way for me.

Favorite Christmas Movies:

Home Alone 1 & 2 (though I watch it year round)

The Santa Clause

The Nightmare Before Christmas, although I tend to watch it around Halloween more.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas (the cartoon)

I use to hate Wonderful Christmas Time as kid. Over the years I’ve come to like it, but my favorite of the two is Happy Xmas. ahdn_george_08
