Offline I thought I’d mention the song structure. The verses and choruses go for 8 A to D progressions whereas the riffs go for 4, also here’s the order:

Offline Whatever key I put it in, it’ll suck for at least one of you but I really like A to D, it sounds really nice, so I’ll keep it. I don’t know much about mouth instruments, so can you tell me what you mean when you say that you are in E and Martha is in F#.

Offline Can you guys play these sharps on your instrument, the only instruments that I am familiar with are guitar, bass, piano, drums, and harmonica and all on all of them except the harmonica can play any note on the chromatic scale. Also, French horns are typically either in F or Bb and Saxophones are typically either in Bb or Eb, so why would The Hole Got Fixed’s French horn be in E and Martha’s Saxes be in F#.
Anyways, if you think an A to D progression is to hard for you guys, I could either change the speed of part of the song or change the speed of your instruments, but I would really like you guys to try A to D first.

Offline Because I’m in F, that means one flat. To cancel that out to get to C major, you need one sharp, so French Horns naturally have one sharp. Saxes add 3 sharps.
We could do it if we needed to, but it is preferable to not have to play in that key. It is harder to play chromatically on instruments that aren’t guitars, piano or bass.

Offline This is really getting confusing because I’m only used to fretted and keyed instruments, as well as the harmonica to an extent. I think what you’re saying is that although it’s possible to play any note, it’s much easier to play in the major scale your brass or woodwind instrument is based off, in your case F and in Martha’s case, both Bb and Eb due to her have multiple different Saxes, I know it’s possible to play in A, as Lady Madonna is in A and has Sax in it. If we decide to speed up the song, I will have some editing to do.

This is a good idea, just for the sake of learning how to collaborate and get a good process going. Here is a link to a Drive folder:

You should be able to access the click track and the bass track. If you prefer, I’ve included a compressed copy of the audacity project so you can play along easily, just be sure to output a good quality wav file (24bit please), you should have permission to upload to that folder. There’s a four beat count-in, then the billy shears intro and a bar before getting into it. Hope you guys can do something with it and let me know if you have issues accessing/uploading the files.
I just remembered this, and I recorded the drums to it. Hopefully they are of a passable quality…

I’m not opposed to that idea, but wouldn’t it be better to finish With A Little Help first, and then do Sgt. Pepper as a separate song, with a real ending, not a segue into WALHFMF?

Copyright allows for what we were discussing. For doing a cover, pretty much the only thing you aren’t allowed to do is actually use the original song in the final master.

Offline OK, I have a new version up: I was unhappy with the quality of the bass recording so I did it again and my hand slipped and added piano ukulele and vocals. But feel free to ignore all that and do your own versions if you want, I just did it for the hell of it. It’s here:
