That is sounding awesome!! Some wonderful additions there, @Beatlebug!
Thanks, Holey! I feel rather good about them meself. Especially the harmony vocals*.
Anyway @ewe2 it sounds wonderful.
*This is probably the first time in my recorded history that I favour my vocals over my guitar playing. I put it all down to ewe2’s excellent mixing. I really like my voice when it’s mostly buried in the harmonies!

I took a gander at the latest edition and it sounds wonderful. It wasn’t what I expected when I started the thread/project but you guys teamed up to make a great sounding track.
Virtual apples for everyone!

Another remix, correcting bass panning and compressing the (now stereo) drums to brighten and oomphenate, resulting in a rhythm you can feel as well as hear:

Wow, the drums sound amazinger now! (They already sounded amazing before, but now you can actually hear them! Kind of like Ringo’s reaction to the Sgt Pepper remix ) Likewise the bass. Marvellous job, @ewe2 — each time I think it can’t get much better but somehow it does.
More treble on the tambourine would be good, I admit. Do you think you could boost the bass on my guitar part or would it mess it up? It still sounds like I recorded it in a can.

I’ve already boosted the tambourine, any more and it will be a brillo pad and not a tambourine It’s cutting through fine, boosting frequencies will just ruin it and I’ll have to pull it down in the mix. Actual piano parts will alter the mix again, so I may eq things differently then. With the guitars, I’m trying to leave them in the midrange because their lower mids will fight the bass otherwise. Again, real piano changes all this because it’s in a similar range. If you listen to the original the guitars are tightly mixed with the piano and the tambourine is a lot quieter (I really should mix it to the right and keep it at the same level as the high hat).

Well, I got sick of waiting for someone else to record the piano part, so I did it: https://drive.google.com/file/…..sp=sharing
Does that mean we now have everything recorded?

Can you redo it, you’ve made some chord booboos in the “do you need anybody” refrain phrase, you’re going to a minor when it should be a major. The progression is C#m to F# and you’re doing Fm. I think the rest is ok. The piano is a little out of tune but it sounds fine with that room reverb.

Ok, I had to edit some issues with the piano but still sounds great, here’s the new mix with training wheels (guide uke, keys) removed:

IS IT DONE YET?
Read:
CAN I SHOW IT OFF TO MY FAMILY YET?!
Also, I noticed that you seem to have done something weird with the higher frequencies, the cymbals/hi-hat sounds super tinny. I’m comparing it to the pre-piano mix and it sounds ugh* more trebley, like the higher frequencies have been compressed unduly.
*I meant ‘much’, but perhaps the Typo God knows what I mean more than I do

Good job everybody, the only problem i have with it is that the bass ends on a B note instead of an E note but besides that and the fact the intro sounds unprofessional due to my terrible singing voice it turned out surprisingly well. I wonder if it will go well with the cover of Sgt. Pepper me and @The Hole Got Fixed are working on, maybe we can try to segue the 2 together like on the album once both projects are complete.

I do concur with SG, the drums seem to have an unusual amount of high frequencies.
Otherwise, it is sounding utterly spectacular! I thought by taking out the uke, it would sound less good, but I was wrong, it sounds really awesome now!
And @Dark Overlord has a very goof idea: it won’t take too much longer before our cover of Sgt Pepper is finished, so why don’t we segue the two together?
And then why don’t we go through the entire album, and do what we can (all but BFTBOMK and WYWY, I would presume?)

I don’t think we have the time or interest to do a cover of the entire album, let’s just stick with Sgt. Pepper and Friends.

I told you it was fine but people wanted the drums brighter, I EQ’d them brighter and I’m not surprised you hate it. The only way to EQ drums with full control is miking separate elements, I couldn’t do that. Boosting the top 10k also boosted a bunch of harmonics and the room reverb. Be careful what you wish for

That’s how the bass ends. Don’t believe me, go listen to the isolated original, that’s what I based it on. And if you wanted to appear professional, you shouldn’t have added cowbell!
OK, enough fiddling is enough, this is the final mix: https://drive.google.com/open?…..6zMBr4zJp3 To do anything more is just going around in circles and I want 7gig of hard disk space back
is my favourite smiley today.
If you want to do another Beatles song why not do Helter Skelter or similar, I wanna hear some crazy singing
