But its early days! Oh my god, that would have been a cacophony – I muted your vocal track when recording, so to not get distracted.

The Hole Got Fixed I went with the 2nd drum track but I want you to try again, this time maybe soloing the guitar chop and lead tracks together with the 140-time to keep you in line, I had to do some editing there! And what I meant by a busier track is more like kick-kick-rim/snare rest k-k-snare on each bar. We can cheat by using the time track for hi-hats if you want! And we can always edit fills later, I wouldn’t worry about those too much, either keep it very simple or avoid for now. TBH I think drums are quite hard to do well in reggae, because errors really stand out (cf my guitar skills!).
Hmmm… that could be interesting… I won’t get a chance to record anymore drums for 3 weeks – I have an excursion tomorrow, Curriculum day Wednesday, and last day of term on Thursday, then it’s School Holidays for two weeks.
Hopefully it’s not urgent
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh… That would make sense. I’ll definitely try that first day back next term!

Otherwise it sounds pretty good concept-wise, I’m liking the reggae Helter Skelter (I couldn’t quite picture it before).

Offline Please do! Listening to the song for inspiration, you hear all these little things they added, like the echoed guitar chords just before the guitar solo, just dubbed in there for effect! And when I figured out the vocal line on the guitar I thought oh wow Paul’s singing a guitar riff. Don’t feel you have to imitate the solo riff, think of something different. There’s heaps of reggae tips on youtube if you need inspiration. In fact I just got inspired by this:
I’m thinking “yeah I should redo that rhythm track to be more muted and proper reggae. Wait , those chords…that progression would sound really good in this!” It’s 4am and I’m seriously considering tracking a new rhythm piece (I have insomnia and had a good sleep today, it’s ok)

I thought that progression the guy above did would work really well for the song so now the verses go Em/Em/A/D and the choruses go A/D/E/G (passing chord)/ and I changed the feel of the bassline. And I’ve redone the rhythm guitar and the chukka guitar and made separate sections of the intro guitar riff. The link above is just a mix of it but if you want the multitracks I can compress them for you. I love finding new things in a song yay!

Can you play ogg files? If not, you might need to install a codec to do that. Audacity uses ogg for compressing projects because it’s not encumbered by patent law like mp3s. I believe there’s a windows media codec to play them, you may need another to create them.
