I’d volunteer, @Beatlebug. Fortunately Unfortunately I shall still be in Liverpool, making it impossible.

Were it not for that, my hand would be up in a shot.

It is payment, in-exchange for living in the bee houses with safety from attack and illness. The bees are effective communicators once you learn their method of exchanging ideas.

I decided to create a new edition of the Beatleian calendar

dImage Enlarger

There was a poll about what the eight day of the week would be called, Sitarday won so I kept that the same but I decided to incoproate the other options into the extra week since “Eight Days A Week is not enough to show I care” So I named it Bealte week after Necko’s Beatle day suggestion since that had the highest number of votes then at least one suggestion that was made by each user with Nigel being a leap day.

I changed two of the month names, I switched the spelling of May to Mae as a reference to Maggie Mae and changed October to Hallovada since Halloween and Nevada day were on the 31st and people on the forum lately have been starting to celebrate the holidays at the start of the month plus the suggestion was approved here. Also the months June and September will keep their names because the Beatles and solo Beatles have mentioned the months in their songs.

Here is the general info about the calendar.

Overview

The calendar has 8 days a week, 30 days a month, 265 days on common years and 266 days on leap years and starts on year 0.

Name of Calendar

I thought about a few names and the name Beatleian Calendar seemed like the best choice since the Georgian Calendar already existed. If anyone has a better name feel free to share.

Days of the week

I (obviously) put eight days per week instead of seven. The extra day is called Sitarday since looking around, that was the most common way to say that day. Sitarday on the calendar is between Saturday and Sunday and would be a weekend day. Sitarday would be like the hump day of the weekend.

Month names

I kept most of the months the same, The Beatles both solo and together mention June and September so those two months will remain the same. I changed the spelling of May to Mae as a reference to the spelling of Maggie Mae . October had become Hallovada due to the fact that the months have 30 days and Halloween and Nevada day are on the 31st of the months, so the two holidays have been stretched out to a month long festival.

If anyone has any comments on what the month names should be or how to make the album names work for a calendar.

Month length

One problem with the Gregorian calendar is that every year you would have to make another one and I would rather not make a bunch of calendars so instead I made it so every month had 30 days each so that the year always ends and starts on the same day and that all the months would be even.

Extra days/Beatle Week

By making the months all 30 days I had 5-6 extra days left over and Eight Days A Week Is not enough to show I care so I created a monthless week called Beatle week that is either 5 or 6 days long that is considered a vacation week that transitions from one year to the next. The name Beatle week is from Necko’s suggestion on the eight day.

The names of the extra days are Beatday, Sonmiday, Earthday, Bagiday, Baldurday and the leap day is Nigel. Nams were by William Shears Cambell, Little Piggy Dragonguy, Von Bontee, Ron Nasty and Leppo for the eight day of the week.

Year

The calendar would start on year 0 and starts on the gregorian year 1926 since that is when the first Beatles related person George Martin was born and is the start of Beatles history. The year starts on January 1st even though George Martin was born on January 3 so that it would be easier to use with the Gregorian calendar. The calendar starts on year 0 since when George Martin was born, he was 0 years old

Leap Year

There will be leap years and the rules for the leap years will be the same as the Gregorian calendar the rules are:

Every year that is evenly divisible by 4 is a leap year except (4, 8 , 12,. . )

if the year is evenly divisible by 100 unless (100, 200, 300 . ., common years)

it is evenly divisible by the year 400 (400, 800, . . , leap years)

The Beatleian calendar will start off with year 0 as a leap year.

Date notation

Notating the date is year/month/day so that the longest length of time is first and the shortest length of time is last.

Years before the calendar

Years before year 0 would be notated as negative numbers so for example, my Grandpa was born in the year before 0 so he would be born in the -1 year.

Converting the Gregorian calendar dates to the Beatleian calendar

Depending on the day it could be converted in a few ways.

It could be converted symbolically where if their is a holiday that falls on December 3rd on the Gregorian calendar, it could just be put on December 3rd on the Beatlian calendar.

If the date included the year, like a birthday, it could be converted accurately depending on when the event occurred on the Beatleian calendar. Here is a link where I show how to convert days from the Gregorian calendar to the Beatleian Calendar.

This third method involves calculating the date on a yearly bases so that the dates stay at the same time as they would on the Gregorian calendar. The date of the event would change every year. This is not an optimal method since it would require changing the calendar each year to notate the holiday.

I think method 2 would be the best for transferring Beatles dates.

Beatley Dates

Here are some dates that could potentially serve as holidays on the Beatleian calendar:

13/7/7 – Ringo Starr ’s birthday

13/10/11 – John Lennon ’s birthday

15/6/17 – Paul McCartney ’s birthday

16/2/26 – George Harrison ’s birthday

30/7/7 – Paul meets John

35/10/8 – Love Me Do /P.S. I Love You released in UK.

37/2/7 – Beatles arrive in the U.S.

37/2/9 – Debut on ‘Ed Sullivan Show’

38/8/17 – Beatles perform at Shea Stadium.

39//8/1 – Last concert at Candlestick Park

40/6/2 – Pepper released

42/1/29 – Rooftop concert

43/4/7 – Paul McCartney announces the end of the Beatles

Please share your thoughts about the calendar and any suggestions that you have.

If your bees need an outing, @Beatlebug, you can take them on a trip to Cardiff to socialize.

I figured it would be like in the Yellow Submarine film, where the bit of you that’s on this side of the hole is on this side of the hole, and the bit of you that’s gone through the hole is coming out on the other side.

I created a new Holiday/festival.

It is from December 27 – 31 and is called Beatles Week.

It is a time to show you care and celebrate the transiston between one year and the next.

Each day has a name

27th Beatday
28th Sonmiday
29th Earthday
30th Bagiday
31st Baldurday

I like the idea, but you need a bit of work on the names of the days. In any event, here is a tree for Beatles Week.

Names were from other forum members.

Also, I don’t want it to use a tree associated with Christmas.
