What would you have to pay for in the house? New carpet if you pour paint on it.
Glad to hear most things are fine in my absence.
No boredom. Lots of running to-and-fro to take care of things. I have taken a few minutes to pop in and listen to a few sessions.

Well, do you have a better idea where the money will come from? We can’t just keep recirculating the same few bills until they wear out. New money either has to be produced or imported.

Pounds, shillings and pence– I like them, but it seems obvious to me that on our island we use our own currency. The standard unit is a BB dollar, and each bill and coin is imprinted with the legend ‘Money can’t buy you love’.
One earns it by helping out round the house– doing the laundry 😉 , mowing the lawn, weeding the flowerbed in the English garden that’s dedicated to George’s memory, and that. One only needs it to purchase outside supplies, such as food. And if one wants to do something larger, like replace the hammocks on the rooftop, or add a home recording studio to one’s room, or redo the sitting-room carpet (because someone poured paint on ’em?), then one would have to earn extra money. (Volunteer to dredge the guitar-shaped swimming pool, do repainting jobs, offer to clean others’ rooms, etc.)

What is the exchange rate for a BB dollar? How many types of coins are there?

So, you’re saying that Necko is now in charge of the money tree farm?

A BB dollar is worth about 1.50 pounds sterling, which is *consults exchange-rate* 2.4 US dollars, or 3.78 AU dollars. There are half-dollars, quarter-dollars, ten-pence, and one-penny coins. Notes come in one, two, five, ten, twenty, fifty, one hundred, etc.

Gotta earn the bread somehow! We can put the plantation behind the English garden. Money-trees have bank-note leaves and bear coin-fruit, right?

It’s okay – I’m an economist – I can make it sound much better than it actually is.

This is my postcard
Paul’ll follow the sun (on the right)
I’ve been spending a lot of time in my new recording studio (which is sort of set into the floor of my room, accessible via a short flight of stairs). And snacking on coconut chips since no one has claimed them yet. One down, only forty-nine pounds to go! Anyone fancy a coconut-themed Sunday brunch?
Edit: Post no. 1700!
