Nice, after reading this comment I just found this article on his favourite 100 books! Maybe we can arrange a shipment of them over here…

I’m going to be getting ALL THE LED OUT! in my studio if anyone wants me. You may find me headbanging wildly whilst playing air guitar — or real guitar.

I’ve read two of them The Great Gatsby and 1984 (both classic works of depressingness and dystopia. I preferred 1984, and not just because Diamond Dogs was based on it ).

I’ve read those two, and also Mishima’s The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea (amazing title; the book itself is not as pretty, but still a very compelling story). I think I prefer Orwell’s writing, but I absolutely love the character of Gatsby and its depiction of 20s culture.

I’ll have to revisit Gatsby. I was about sixteen when I read it, and hadn’t quite the same appetite for beautifully depressing works of art that I have now.

I’ve walked around quoting “In my younger and more vulnerable years” since I was 16 and read Gatsby. Also, whenever I see a billboard for eyeglasses, I think about that book.

Yeah, the symbolism is one of the best things about it, I think. The eyes on the billboard, and also the green light across the bay.
I also like the 2013 film, which is a total mess stylistically and not that good from a critical standpoint, but is just so absurd that it’s entertaining anyway.

Who wants to help me clean the George Garden? We better see how it’s held up through the long cold lonely winter and maybe start preparing for Febooary early!

*blasts Be My Wife(y) in honour of David and Walry*
I found a slide guitar with a long extended wire among the weeds whilst clearing the George Garden. I’ve been holding onto it a couple of days since but if anyone wants to claim it, it’s right here. Otherwise I’m taking it and gonna be walking round the BB house with it playing various George riffs!

@TheWalrusWasBrian, you’re back just in time. We have one of those Whirlpool washers that can catch fire. I need you to import us a new washer.
Also, I’ve heard a rumor that the harmonica John stole in Arnhem on the way to Hamburg is somewhere in the BB House. Does anyone know if this is true?
