My CDs aren’t dying and if they did, I’d just hop over to discogs and get a replacement. Or get a vinyl release, or a DVD etc. With some artists the physical media is often the only way you can collect them. Just keep the media dark and cool and they’ll last.

Beatlebug, Necko, WeepingAtlasCedarsI'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

I agree with those above that noticed Target and Best Buy rarely carry any CDs worth buying anymore – mostly “Best Of” compilations. I buy all my CDs and DVDs from Amazon. Since my laptop did not come equipped with a CD drive, I bought a drive that plugs into it when needed. This is because I noticed that the few internet downloads I have are inferior in sound quality to anything I loaded via CD.

I’ve pared my collection down over the years, but still have ~1200 CDs and I still buy them. All of mine, even going back to those I bought in the early 1990s when I first started, still work fine. But I store them properly and take care of them (plus I have everything backed up digitally).

I keep all of my hard CDs in the same place. I mostly listen digitally, but I love going over to look through the booklets that come with CDs. They used to be my favorite part about buying a new Cd
