I couldn’t believe the final score when I saw it. Of the three games we had left, this one worried me the most because the Bears were playing so well. I’m fairly confident we could handle the Giants next week and we will probably lose to the Packers in the last game of the regular season, so this game was one I felt we had to win.
No matter what else happens, my feeling is that the NFC North is going to be a force to be reckoned with next year. The Pack is always strong and the Vikes, Bears and Lions are poised to do great things if they keep improving at the rate they are now. We all had a tough non-divisional schedule this year by playing against the NFC West and AFC West. I’m hoping we get the cupcakes next year like Carolina did this year- AFC South and NFC East. I know Carolina is good – you don’t get to 15-0 by sucking. But, look at their schedule and who they played. They may not be as good as their record indicates – the playoffs will tell the tale.

Yeah, I like the Cards. I’m not a bandwagonner or anything, but I also like the Panthers because of their connections to the Bears; their head coach is a former Bears defensive coordinator and player (rookie on the ’85 team, no less and played for 9 seasons) and their defense is reminiscent. Other than that, I can leave ’em.

not a fun weekend. Wish we didn’t play down to terrible teams in high pressure situations.
Side note: how dumb are the Patriots?
It depends. Once the Patriots were playing one of the worst teams and they lost. Since most people in my area love the Patriots, they were freaking the hell out

I assume you are referring to their decision to kick off for the start of overtime? It’s not really that dumb. A few factors go into making a decision like that – having faith in your defense’s ability to stop the other team and establishing field position, weather, etc… I’m not saying it is always the right decision, but I could see why teams would try it. In this case, Belichick went with his gut and banked on the Jets not being able to score a touchdown on their first possession of OT. Incidentally, it’s been done twice since 2012 and had worked both times – most recently by the Vikings against the Rams earlier this year. It also worked for the Patriots in a game against Denver in 2013.
Speaking of my Vikings, they dismantled a Giants team that had nothing left to play for. It’s a long shot, but the Vikes still have a chance to win the division next weekend with a win at Lambeau Field.

Such is the life of a Minnesota Vikings fan. Let’s review.
January 1970, 1974, 1975 and 1977 – Four appearances in the Super Bowl. Four losses.
January 1988 – With seconds to go in regulation time of the NFC Championship game, Tommy Kramer throws a pass to Darren Nelson at the goal line. Nelson, who had the game-tying touchdown in his hands…dropped it. Game over.
January 1999 – After the 1998 season, in which they won 15 out of 16 games, they steamrolled Arizona by 20 points in the Divisional Playoff game. The following week, they were 11-point favorites to beat Atlanta in the NFC Championship game. With two minutes left, Gary Anderson lined up to kick a field goal which would give them a seemingly insurmountable 10-point lead. Anderson, who had not missed a kick all season…missed. On the ensuing possession, Atlanta scored to tie the game and went on to win in overtime.
1/10/2016 – The Vikings outplayed Seattle in a gutsy performance – possibly their most disciplined game all year. The only scores Seattle could muster resulted from a fluke play and a fumble. Still, with less than 30 seconds remaining, the Vikings had a chance to win when Blair Walsh lined up to kick a go-ahead field goal. Walsh, who made field goals earlier in the game of 22, 43 and 47 yards…missed. He snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Wide left. It did not hook left – he was too close to have it hook anywhere. He simply pulled it wide left…from 27 yards…81 feet…972 inches. Son-of-a-f*****g-bitch.

Sorry to see that happen @Zig; my team did something similar in the Rugby League Grand Final late last year – we were leading until the last second and made two mistakes on the final play that led to extra time and fumbled on the extra time kick-off catch which led to us losing.
On a more positive note at this end – the Pack played well.

So… do we root for or against Green Bay?
I just can’t.
I’ll wish them well for our friend trc’s sake, but I can’t root for them. It would be like asking trc to root for Liverpool F.C.
There are a few reasons why fantasy football does not appeal to me. One reason is, if I had to root for a Packer because he was on my fantasy team, I would have to Drive My Car off a bridge.
Nope, can’t do it.
