In the Monday Night Football opening theme song this year, check out who comes on at about 32 seconds.
Which led me to watch this Howard Cosell/John Lennon interview clip for the first time. John really sounds like he is having fun.

@trcanberra , it appears my boys saved their worst game of the year for The Packers yesterday. Very disappointing after such a promising start to the season. Overall, though, I am very happy with their progress this year – they’ve already won as many games as they did all of last year. Next year, they move into their new state-of-the-art stadium. Good things are on the horizon.
Skol Vikings!

Yes, the Pack defense had a good day on key plays and the Vikings gave away too many yards from penalties.
I think it was closer than the score made it seem; your team looks on an upward trajectory, though I still think we’ll win the division – this year at least.

Yeah, the amount of penalties (8 for 110 yards) was staggering. Very uncharacteristic. Up until yesterday, they only had 18 of them in 9 games.
As for the final score, it could have been much worse for us if your receivers had done a better job of catching the ball. I thought Rodgers was going to lose his mind, he was so frustrated.
The Packers definitely have the edge now for the division title. We play The Pack once more this year, but at Lambeau Field (gulp!). If nothing else, I am hoping it is a measuring stick as to how far along we’ve come as yesterday was an abomination.
Best of luck for the rest of the season.

You guys are living and dying on Peterson’s back. You can beat the Pack, even if they stack the box but he’s just got to have one of his better days. The Packers WRs look pedestrian with Jordie Nelson on the IR but Starks and Lacy (now that he’s apparently recovered) are a formidable RBBC. Given it’ll be in Lambeau in the dead of winter, it’ll come down to the better run defense.

I’ll admit Peterson is a huge part of the offense. And why not – he’s a flippin’ beast. But to this point, they have been a complete team playing well in all three phases. Unfortunately, Sunday was a complete disaster. They committed way too many defensive penalties at key times, couldn’t block on offense and gave up big plays on special teams. The next stretch of games will be interesting as they have a tough schedule against teams that are a combined 35-25. No matter what else happens, they have already exceeded my expectations – couldn’t be happier with Zimmer at the helm. I’m hoping for a better O-line next year (reeeaaaallllyyy missing Loadholt who went down in pre-season) as well as a better secondary. This year, I’m just thrilled that they are relevant again after too many lean years.

^ Your lot may do better than I predicted; the Pack seem to be stumbling.
I don’t think they are stumbling – they just miss their best receiver. Besides, the Bears have been on a roll lately and have beaten some good teams – no shame in losing a close one to them. They make me nervous as we still have a game left against them.
This is such a weird year in the NFL. Green Bay gives up an average of 112 rushing yards per game and Peterson couldn’t get out of his own way. Atlanta gives up only 96 and AP ran through them like a hot knife through butter.
The division race is going to be exciting down the stretch.

Yeah, it appears they have finally developed an offense that suits Cutler’s talents. He is thriving in it.

I live Saints Who Dat Country, so I watch them from time to time. I watch LSU (Louisiana State University) from time to time. College football is huge around here. Its practically a religion. The two big college teams where I’m from is Alabama (University of Alabama) and LSU. You also have Mississippi State, Auburn, and Ole Miss (University of Mississippi). Despite being from Alabama originally I have to go with LSU. Maybe because Alabama fans are too rowdy.

I’m like you in that I love college football. Being originally from Upstate New York, I am a fan of Syracuse. They’ve been going through quite the lean stretch for a while, but I still cheer them on. So does this guy…

Well I too follow the college football, not as much as I’d like to though, and you’ll be happy to know @Sky999 that I am from Arkansas, you see and there we’ve got the one big team. The Arkansas Razorbacks. And they kinda trashed LSU a couple weeks back. So we’ve got that Golden Boot right back where it belongs. Granted, they haven’t had a great season this year but it’s much better than in recent years since Petrino left so they’re on the up and up.

Currently watching the Army / Navy game. Could this be the year Army breaks the losing streak? Navy has won the last 13 years.

That’s a real college football fan, Zig: someone who will watch the Army/Navy game just because nobody else is playing.

Actually, I look forward to watching this game every year. I hope to attend one in person some day. A guy I used to work with went to one years ago and said the experience still gives him goosebumps.
Army is giving Navy all they can handle at the moment. Navy 21, Army 17 nearing the end of the third quarter.
