The White Album and Abbey Road

I am starting my Beatles collection. They had Revolver too but I had 25 cents and a guitar pick in my wallet. On my birthday I plan to get more records, a guitar slide, a bass, and a hand me down les paul and amp from my grandfather’s guitar playing days.

Update since 11 May 2022 (when I last updated):

I got David Gilmour – David Gilmour (1978) at the beginning of the month

Syd Barrett – The Madcap Laughs (1970) and David Bowie – Space Oddity (2019 remix) after Christmas

Radiohead – The King of Limbs (2012) in October

Muse – Will Of The People (2022) in September, right after it came out ahdn_john_08_gif and also, at the same time, Muse – Drones (2015) and Radiohead – In Rainbows on CD (my dad downloaded it when it came out in 2007, it was a big deal a-hard-days-night-john-6 but I wanted to own it on CD)

Muse – The Resistance (2009) to replace my previous copy because I left it in the car, the sunroof leaked, the disc got wet, and then the car got hot and the hot water droplets damaged my diska-hard-days-night-paul-10a-hard-days-night-paul-10a-hard-days-night-paul-10a-hard-days-night-paul-10<

looks like I collected a lot of Muse and Radiohead last year, didn’t mean to, just kinda worked out that way a-hard-days-night-paul-8

Bought some Blondie material, including ‘Against The Odds’, which is all enjoyable. There will be other stuff I’ve added but forget what.

I impulsively bought Showbiz (1999) and The 2nd Law (2012) last night, completing (for now!) my Muse studio albums collection a-hard-days-night-paul-7 they’re my least favorite Muse albums, but I still wanted them for completeness and because I do love some of the songs on them very much (I love this band enough that I still like my least favorite albums heart).

Bought some new stuff today for the first time since moving last month, back to the town where I lived from age 8 to 19 (and where I built much of my initial Beatles collection, via garage sales and used vinyl stores):

Bob Seger And The Last Heard – Heavy Music: The Complete Cameo Recordings 1966-1967 (2018)

Duke Ellington, with Charles Mingus/Max Roach – Money Jungle (1963)

my bloody valentine – loveless (1991)

I’m not a CD gal, but my band director found some of his old CDs and gave them to me.

I believe Malkmus and co were inspired by Krautrockers Guru Guru’s 1972 “Kanguru” LP for that cover:

Wow, fantastic haul, especially Mississippi Fred, and especially especially Jimi! Seeing that cover brings me back to age 16 (’83) when I found a copy for $4. (Bought Led Zep II that day too, same price.) JH is still my hero!

Now playing Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ debut

My grandmother got me these albums for my (late) birthday since I was only able to go to Jackson today.

This means my LZ collection is almost done! I only need LZ I, Presence, and In Through The Out Door to get all of the studio albums which is my goal.

Then I can properly start my Beatles collection. For that, I only need 1967 and prior, and maybe the yellow submarine soundtrack (probably not).
