No!!!!!! ‘Off The Ground ‘ is a fine album with some fantastic tracks. The reputation it’s gotten is in no way proportionate to the music contained.
Agreed.
That said, tell me what you think of Brainwashed after you listen to it, @vonbontee. I haven’t listened to it yet, except Any Road, which is very good.
EDIT: And nice, getting it for $1!
If you're lonely (or not!), you can talk to me. .....Hey! Are you a new member on this fine forum and don't know where to go to introduce yourself?
Well, you can do it here! Dig it?

I love Brainwashed!
I’ll be waiting for you here, after you’ve listened to it.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Found a few things at a garage sale last week for less than a dollar each, including albums by Dylan, Elvis, Robert Plant/Alison Krauss…and George Harrison ‘s “Brainwashed” Haven’t played any of them yet; hope I enjoy that George album so I can participate in discussions about when they come up here. (I also saw Paul’s “Off The Ground ” for sale but it’s got a bad reputation so I overlooked that one.)
Never care about reputations personally – who’s to say the folks who give it the rep have the same tastes as me? Especially if it is on sale; I got my ‘Ground’‘ for $3 so it will be worth it even if it has 1 good song – and I know there are at least 3 on it I like though I haven’t listened to it yet.

Last week I got Rush’s All The World’s A Stage (for $8) and Grace Under Pressure ($4), along with Paul’s Tug Of War ($3) used, all on vinyl. I also got Radiohead’s Hail to the Thief new on vinyl for $22 (not a deal, but it’s awesome, so I’m glad I got it).

Though I sponsored it back in April. Due to some problems, today I finally got 5 copies of Erutan’s The Court Of Leaves (Celtic) and as a bonus I also got 2 copies of her The Bard Side quest (Covers of Video game songs) albums (C.D). The Booklet for the Court of Leaves includes sheet music, descriptions of the instruments and recipes. It was well worth the wait.

Hey all! I went on down to the record store for a little birthday gift to myself. I got two new McCartney albums: Venus And Mars , which besides Band On The Run is my favorite Wings album. Also, I got a Ram Mono record, limited edition number 12030. Not too low but still nice! Anyone else get new records lately?

@paulramon1962, there’s already a topic I made for this a while ago, maybe a mod could move it.
@Ahhh Girl @meanmistermustard @Zig
I just found RAM too, haven’t listened yet as I don’t have my record player sadly.

Already a “buy any new records recently?” thread…unless this is a thread for new PAUL MCCARTNEY records-alone! If not, maybe a mod could merge…
Anyways, I did buy a record (CD) today…a collection of Grieg’s “Peer Gynt” suites plus concerto for piano & orchestra. I’ll be giving that a listen soon enough.
Sorry if this IS a “new Paul album purchases?” thread…

Looks like there was a slight mix-up in which thread paulramon1962’s post should go to. Ah, the joys of having overlapping themes in different threads. If it is o.k. with everyone, I’ll leave these posts here instead of shifting them again to put them in the vinyl thread.

Just got this one:
It has Barbara Ann on it; more relevant to this forum they also do covers of three Beatles tracks: I Should Have Known Better , Tell Me Why and You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away .

@trcanberra, I love the concept behind that album, inviting all their friends in to make “party” noises and play ashtray solos and whatnot. Also I love the commentary during “Barbara Ann”‘s guitar solo and the several jokey false endings to that track! Plus, how cool to have Dylan and Beatles covers on a 1965 record by an American rock band?

Indeed. I have always been a bit of a Beach Boys fan, particularly their 1970s albums as I mentioned earlier – however, as I have bought a wider range of their output I have been increasingly impressed by how much they managed to push the boundaries of the Capitol culture and the expectations of some of their own fans and band members. My listening journey has been more enjoyable than expected (and has again diverted me from my voyage through solo Beatles albums – which I WILL get back to (no pun intended)).
[EDIT] I’m really looking forward to the 2-CD Smile Sessions box which should arrive in the next few days.

Oh, a couple of unusual ones to add (go Little Saint Nick):
and
Somewhat disappointed that the latter doesn’t have lyrics in the booklet – no Beach Boys karaoke night here unless I print out multiple pages from the net
And yes, if you are counting, I now have the first 20 albums by the band.
[EDIT] Oops – if you add in these two I forgot to mention:
