You rejected a free Elton John record, for that price I would’ve taken it and burned disc 2 onto vinyl myself with a blank record and a record cutter and eve if I didn’t have the materials necessary to do that, I would’ve just taken the record anyways. Seems odd that your record store gives away some of it’s records though instead of charging a discounted price.
Yeah I’m not half the Elton John fan I used to be. Maybe if I go back this week and it’s still there, I’ll take it.
Also the records he puts out for free are either records that nobody wants to buy, or are in bad condition(like only the first half of Yellow Brick Road). He actually charges $0.25 for then unless you buy something, or he wants you to shop st his store. Like if someone comes in and asks how much they are without buying anything inside the store, he’ll tell them $0.25, but if someone doesn’t ask, or sometimes when people pass by, he’ll say they’re free.

A double record that’s missing one of its records is worthless. (Unless a record from another set of the same LP is found.) My first White Album was similar, it was missing its 1st disc.
That’s true, except for the White Album . I would and have bought an only one disc set of the White Album . Although that one was on CD, disc 2.

It may not have much financial value, but should the disc it has have music that’s wanted but not owned, then that gives it a worth in itself to someone.
Depends on the point of view of said person. I would see it as an impediment because you’d have to spend just as much money finding another good copy. Therefore losing money (if the record wasn’t free) and having a record that you can’t sell.

If you find a double CD with one missing, use the other for target practice, I’d either shoot at it with a gun, burn it, smash it, or any combination of the 3.

And William Shears Campbell did say it was free, “I actually saw this album in the free record rack in pretty good condition and I almost grabbed it, but then I saw that it was only the first disc so I put it back.”
My point was, no free record, even if only part of a set, so long as it plays, is worthless to someone who doesn’t have that music. The difference between no financial value and being worthless.

Don’t people sell replacement discs and or albums with missing discs on eBay or something like that, why not just buy one of those if you want to complete your album and take the free half album, getting something for free is always better than buying it, although if you don’t want to pay, it’s not going to be as easy. This is the same case with internet downloads, I spent about 2 hours today trying to download a copy of Guitar Hero World Tour off the internet and it wouldn’t work, it required a disc, which I obviously don’t have. I sure as hell hope no one here is a police officer, that would sure suck for people like me.

Yeah I probably wouldn’t buy a double album that had only one of the discs(unless maybe if it was the White Album ). However, that record was free, so I may get it if I see it there again. I mean if it’s free, then you can’t really put money, or physical worth in the question of whether or not to get it.

Actually it was from this set, where the 2 discs were in separate cases, so only disc 2 was in the shop.

But I did end up completing my Paul McCartney discography up to Pipes Of Peace , with one of @meanmistermustard’s favorite Paul albums
Then this isn’t an album, but I also picked this up at Zia.

I found (and bought) a copy of Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits (70’s repress) For 50 cents!
It was in the bargain bin for some reason. (the record wasn’t really scratched at all.) I have no idea why it was in there, but I’m glad it was.

Sorry about the double post.
Both of these on cassette:
Us – Peter Gabriel (I wasn’t expecting much from this. Boy was I wrong! Come Talk To Me, Washing Of The Water, Secret World, and Digging In The Dirt are bloody great songs!)
90125 – Yes (Okay album. More ‘meh’ songs than good songs, but still worth 25 cents.)

So yesterday I got quite a bit.
I got Billy Joel’s Streetlife Serenade. This copy is a not for sale promo.
Then I got 2 Beatles 45’s. Ticket To Ride /Yes It It and another copy of Let It Be /You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) that didnt have a sleeve and was scratched up so I got it for free. Also this one doesn’t have Robert Cox written on it.
Then the rest I just took from the free section.
Because y’all were getting at me for not getting it, I picked up the Yellow Brick Road that was only one of the discs. It was actually disc 2, it just was in the first slot.
Then I got these Misc. records from the free section.
These Dean Martin records
This Lennon Sisters record
These Misc records that I grouped together for the sake of taking less pictures
This heavy box set of light classical music. It is 12 LP’s but LPs 1 and 5 are missing. The inner sleeves for 1 & 5 are still in there though.
Then I got this neat thick 10″ record
Then I also picked up this Please Please Me calendar for the year of 2013. I got it brand new too.

I listen to the albums on Spotify or YouTube though. I might be arrested later on xD.

They’re not necessarily that expensive. I usually don’t pay more than $5 for my records.

In our country, at least.
An average vinyl in here costs around $20. It is probably most of the records are imported, because there are very few vinyl factories where I live.

Where I’m from it’s $30 if you’re lucky! That’s why I don’t own any, though I want some.
