Over a space of a week I bought these records:

Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd (it had a repeating scratch, but I found out that pushing down on the tone arm made it fix itself.)

Chicago ll (The Silver One)

Spirits Having Flown, BeeGees.

Well, once again I didn’t buy it meself (I shamelessly get everything off of other people a-hard-days-night-john-6), but I recently acquired Living In The Material World on CD. Another album for my George collection– yay! beatlemaniacs_02_gif

@Beatlebug I can just hear the slide that opens the album and pulls me in every time a-hard-days-night-george-9. I’m at work but what the heck – time to queue it up and let some soulful George vibes into my day.

PLEASE take hold of my hand, that I might understand you heart

Buying records has become a disease, I can’t get anything I need without feeling like I could’ve spent that money on records. a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

Anyways…

The Monkees (debut album) I bought two of them actually, one in mono and one in stereo.

More of the Monkees.

The Best Of Supertramp.

I’ve got that disease too, @Evangeline !  There are worse ones to have, for sure.  Friday I’ll be getting an Amazon package with the new Neil Young live album, and new studio albums by the Avett Brothers and Elizabeth Cook.  And my wife will surely give me one of the “those” looks when she sees the package.  She’s lived with my obsession for 41 years without complaint, so the “look” is as much one of endearment as scorn at this point.  Thanks, sweetheart!

Call me crazy, but I’ve been really into Avant Garde Rock recently.  I think it’s because I enjoy music that challenges me.  I recently heard The Velvet Underground & Nico for the first time, after I bought a cd of it.  Now I’m looking forward to getting their second album, White Light/White Heat.  I also picked up Yoko’s Walking On Thin Ice compilation and have been enjoying that.  yoko-ono_01

Oh, also got Quarters by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.

Aside from the fact that Jerry Garcia died 21 years ago (a pretty big fact to excuse, to be sure), this is a pretty great time to be a Dead Head.  Since May, I’ve been treated to:

Dave’s Picks Volume 18 (7/17/76) plus the subscriber’s bonus disc

July 1978 Box Set (5 shows, including “lost” Betty Boards)

Garcia Live Vol 6 (Garcia/Saunders band, 7/5/73) — just arrived yesterday

Dead and Company — 6/10/16 Charlotte, NC  (recording of a show I saw a couple of weeks ago.  Dead & Co = 3 of the 4 “core 4” surviving Grateful Dead members/founders — Weir, Kreutzmann, Hart — with John Mayer on lead guitar and some of Jerry’s vocals.  I’m not a Mayer fan, but he’s excellent in this band).

Plus the thousands of audience recordings/soundboard recordings available on Archive.org and other sources…an embarrassment of riches from my second-favorite band of all time!

It's gotta be rock and roll music if you wanna dance with me

Whot I was sayin’ is that I helpfully informed you that you were crazy, and now you have to do it for me. And that I like to be told that I’m crazy to the tune of that song. a-hard-days-night-john-6

Celebrating Father’s Day/Dad’s birthday in downtown Chicago today (both my parents have birthdays near their holidays, so we typically combine them). I probably won’t be on much today.

We ended up showing up a little early, so we hung around a record store for a little while and I picked up Radiohead’s latest on CD.
