^^ I’ve always pronounced it Linda, so I wasn’t far off. It did cross my mind that maybe it’s pronounced like French (Lind) though.

It’s a nice name, did you know it means beautiful in Spanish?

Yep!

@Stone: So your real name is Stone? That’s a bit unusual, but nonetheless very awesome!

Looked up “linda” in my Spanish dictionary — indeed, an adjective meaning “pretty” or “lovely” (Paul’s song would be nicely redundant).

Seems that in Spanish it is spelled linda when denoting a feminine, and lindo when masculine.

Then I also found the word linde there, which in Spanish means “boundary”.

(Also, lindón — which means “frame for hanging asparagus”).

Earlier today on the “What are you listening to?” thread, I posted “Caesar LXXI” by Sir Lord Baltimore, from their 1971 self-titled album. The producer of the album?

John Linde!

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Yep. Lindo is an actual name too (a very ugly one imo, but still a name)

Oh cool, so Linde with an e actually means something too! Never knew that, except that in German they call a shield which is made of Lindenwood a Linde and it’s also derived from the German word ”lind” which means snake or ”carrier of secrets” Oh I’m totally going to do research to see if my name means something in other languages too!

Fun fact: In Latin my name would be ”Tilia”

Hey, shall I make a ”What does your name mean?” thread? Could be about both first names and surnames if you like. I’m very interested to see if other people have names with special meanings too

Yeah, there’s a black actor from the UK named Delroy Lindo (his family is from Jamaica; his most famous role maybe was in the movie “Get Shorty”).

A topic about names would be cool.   However, I tend to like to stay anonymous on the Net.  I could give a clue and say my real name means “king”.

That “e” ending where an “a” is expected reminds me of seeing the name “Mathilde” instead of “Matilda”.

Hi folks,

I think I mentioned this in the “Introduce yourself to the forum” forum (that makes eightum surely?), but Little Mild is a sickly take on the Fab’s Little Child .  The song is hardly a classic, but it’s a great laugh and I have a liking for the Beatles’ “call and response” songs.  In the widest and truest sense, you really feel you are with the Beatles when you hear this song.

Pretty clever, but you might’ve added “Things We Said Today” into the mix too, to make it more complete!

Well, you either are, or you aren’t.

If you are, your behavior on this forum as far as I know hasn’t been all that Satanic.

If you aren’t, what is the point of averring that you are?

Then there’s the problem of what “Satan” is.

My best guess is that you are making an atheist anti-Christian “statement” about the symbolism Satan by attempting to deflate and deconstruct it through the medium of your cheeky, devil-may-care (pun intended) insouciance reflected in your name and deportment thereby.

Or his behaviour here could be deceiving us into thinking he is not satan to lure us in so that we dont think he is satan when he really is and when we are most comfortable – ZAP – we’re done for. Or this is his downtime from all that flogging and tempting. Surely every being deserves a rest and cup of tea.

Satan is a deceiver after all – supposedly.

Now the question arrives – what happens if you dont believe that the satan exists?
