Lately, I’ve been listening to music by One Direction and Justin Bieber and people like that, and I’ve realized that I’ve been wrong for my whole life! JB and 1D are great! I can’t believe that no one on this forum likes them! In fact, in my opinion, they’re even better than The Beatles!

They kind of ruined themselves with that Disney show they had, but I don’t even care, I just pretend like that never happened. Also, I love NSYNC, and Justin TImberlake. I hate when people dismiss all tennybopper bands as garbage, and untalented, just because they’re teenyboppers. Isn’t that what The Beatles started off as?

Sorry if I offended you. When I said JB, I was referring to Justin Bieber, not the Jonas Brothers, and I don’t hate the Jonas Brothers. Then again, I don’t exactly “hate” 1D or Justin Bieber, I just sorta dislike them, and it’s because I don’t like the music, not just because they’re teenyboppers. They’re not untalented, and the music isn’t exactly “garbage,” but it’s just not my kind of music. Sorry if this offends you or anyone else.
Oh, and I kinda like Justin Timberlake, too.

Offline Depends on your definition of boyband as to whether or not they were one. Brian helped style their image etc but they weren’t formed by a record executive, wrote their own songs, played their own instruments, and had a say in what they did not being solely directed/ordered by their manager (tho they did listen to and respect Brian a lot). You could also say they were completely ripped off regarding royalities per sales but that was more to do with the era.
As for Beiber you will never find me listening to his music – cannot bear it. Some boybands had some good songs but generally they suck.
Im all up for a topic that discusses the worth of Beiber and the like even if this is all an April Fools.

Offline Haha you almost got me.
My guilty pleasures are 1D, NSync, Backstreet Boys to name a few. For the record I think the Backstreet and NSync are more nostalgic thing for me (I’m a 90’s kid). 1D has a few catchy songs, that get stuck in my head every once and a while.

Exactly. Also, just because they had a lot of screaming fans means nothing. A lot of bands back then had a lot of screaming fan girls. Look up The Rolling Stones appearances on Ed Sullivan. You wouldn’t exactly be calling the Stones a boy band. If you want say the music was poppy, well yes it was, but that was also the era. You can’t expect it to go Doo Wop to Metallica over night, can you? Thats one of the great things about The Beatles, they had different era and helped change music.
