That was a bit way too entertaining for what it was, thanks ASJ!
On a sidenote, is this the right thread for that? Wouldn’t In My Life be better?

My thread, my rules
On a nice note, I always wanted to make a thread that would continue to live on past a week when I first joined this forum- and now TWLD is on its 100th page. So proud, so proud

You’re right, it is the guitar, a Gibson J-200, but it’s not a loaner – it was George’s Thanksgiving gift to Bob when he stayed at Hi Lo Ha (Bob’s house in Byrdcliffe, near Woodstock) between the White Album finishing and Get Back starting.
It was Bob’s main guitar on Nashville Skyline, with a couple of Martin’s.
For all I know, I read that for the first time today. Always something new around the bend that reveals something about these relationships. It wasn’t just a present that was stuck in the corner, it was an instrument Bob valued.

I can’t believe I’m the one correcting Ron Nasty instead of vice versa but as the Beatles guitar enthusiast I am, I must say that George didn’t give Bob Dylan his Gibson J-200 on Thanksgiving 1968, actually here’s a picture of George and Paul recording an overdub for what seems to be Maxwell’s Silver Hammer which George played acoustic guitar on.
And you can also see this guitar being played in the movie Let It Be during the song For You Blue and the guitar was used on these Abbey Road and Let It Be songs.
Therefore, Bob either got a similar looking guitar from George, didn’t get it from George or George loaned it to him. Don’t feel bad though, I used to think a lot of things about The Beatles guitars that are false, such as how I used to believe that George played bass on Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da or how I thought George played his Les Paul on Revolution or how I thought John played acoustic guitar on Another Girl , you learn and grow to realize that Bob Dylan didn’t keep George’s personal J-200, Paul was the one who played bass on Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da , George didn’t own a Les Paul at the time of the recording of Revolution and photographs show him using Rocky to record the song, and that George played acoustic guitar on Another Girl while John played his Strat.

Where did I say George gave him his own Gibson J-200? I said George’s Thanksgiving gift to Bob was a Gibson J-200, and that I didn’t know the guitar was a gift from George until I read it today.
Had I intended to say George gave Bob one of his own guitars, I would have said that. I didn’t. I said George gave Bob a Gibson J-200.
The guitar was not a one-off made for George.

I thought you were implying that, at least I taught you that George was the one who played acoustic guitar on Maxwell’s Silver Hammer .

Until recently I thought it was John because of The Beatles Rock Band but then I got The Beatles Book Monthly issues 1-77 and read in issue 74 page 13 that it was George who played acoustic guitar. Starting with Sgt. Pepper , whenever a new proper album was released, BBM would write a little something about every single track, from these writings I found out so many things:
1. Paul played a Hammond Organ on Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , not a Lowery
2. Mal Evans thinks Paul played harpsichord on Fixing A Hole although I can’t take this as fact because he wasn’t at the session
3. Paul didn’t play bass on Back In The USSR
4. All 4 Beatles sang backing vocals and handclaps on Dear Prudence
5. Paul played drums on Why Don’t We Do It In The Road
6. George played acoustic guitar on Maxwell’s Silver Hammer
7. An honorable mention, but according to one of the pictures, The Beatles are recording their newest single which at the time was Hey Jude /Revolution and the picture shows George with Rocky and Paul with a Lowery organ, helping me out with what guitar George used and what organ Paul used on Revolution .

Mal Evans and Jackie Lomax contributed backing vocals as well. But you forgot one thing: Ringo had quit the band when they recorded Dear Prudence , so that can’t be true.

Thinking about @The Hole Got Fixed’s point about Ringo being absent for Dear Prudence , that is a perfect example of how BBM often presented a rose-tinted version of events, which distorted what we know now and presented the distortion as fact.
Ringo quit the group, wasn’t there for Dear Prudence . BBM is not going to say that a Beatle has quit the group, so they cover his absence by saying he’s on backing vocals and handclaps when he’s actually in Sardinia.
EDIT: Oh crap! Thought I was writing a new post, turns out I was replacing what I said here to begin with. Feck! How did I do that?
Anyway, original post was along the lines of, BBM not being a reliable source, articles credited to insiders were often ghost written… You have to look at all the sources, and there are better primary sources than BBM…

I’ve kinda learned how to do the end of The Ballad Of And , including the final E6 chord (once again, the easiest thing in mankind, but one more achievement for me.) I’m always learning and discovering how to play song snippets here and there (and everywhere! ).

Another song snippet that is fun, and a bit challenging is the riff in the chorus of Helter Skelter . Another to add to your collection, perhaps?
