Leather isn’t a byproduct, it is the most valuable part of a cow- and not all cows’ hide are suitable for the leather industry. The majority of leather comes from India and China where there is little to no animal-welfare laws or legislation. Cows are skinned alive, to get their skin in many cases!
I am not a fan of PETA at all but they do make good videos exposing what life is like behind your leather purse and suede boots and it is narrated by Stella McCartney.
Warning: There is graphic images of the treatment of cows in the leather industry but I think you should look at it to see what it’s really like for the poor animals, turning your eyes away only increases the problem.
Why do we need to cage wild mink, foxes, raccoons, rabbits, cats, dogs and countless other animals and force them to live in appalling conditions? We do not eat them. We do not drink their milk. So why should we force them to live in cramped cages, just so we parade their dead skins around. It’s disgusting- you wouldn’t go wearing another human’s skin, so why would you wear a mink? Bear in mind it takes 60 mink to make just ONE coat.

At least I know that the cows that went into my spaghetti sauce had peaceful happy lives* before they went into my spaghetti sauce.

There is such a thing as scrap leather which is gathered from dead cows which isn’t the best quality of leather is the best humain qualify of leather.
Side note at least the video has the cows outside sometimes.

Good for you SG! There are excellent fake-leather products on the market nowadays, so it’s easy to look stylish and be cruelty free!

We don’t need leather. There are enough good quality leather substitutes for everything that “requires” leather including clothing, car materials, motorcycling protective gear and any other product you can think of.
Leather is pure vanity nor do we need to eat cows. Eating red meats causes far more harm to your body than not eating red meat (and don’t give me any bull…no pun intended, about protein).

I have more videos of animal cruelty if you want to watch them- chickens getting stamped on to kill them, elephants being whipped, prodded with electric rods just for not doing stupid circus tricks, animals being tortured to test medicinal products and cosmetics for humans.
Anything that has been done to a human before, I guarantee you it has also been done to animals.
But this isn’t a competition of who has the shittier life, so I’ll leave it at that.

That’d be great, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t go. I’m not the festival type of girl, nor can I stand on my feet long enough to get anywhere near where he would be playing. It’d be a missed opportunity, I know, but I think I’d prefer travelling a bit for a proper concert. His festival gigs are always a lot shorter than the regular ones anyway. Having said that, if he does play there, I’d be very happy for those who’ll attend.
