I still do that now, not because of the post-stealing, but because sometimes I’m so stupid that I accidentally hit ‘cancel’ instead of ‘submit’ and end up having to do it all again.
Something similar happened to me once with my big huge all-the-beatles-songs-but-cursed post last year and I was PANICKED, I spent hours on it and then it was gone… but I reloaded the page and opened the text box and it was still there.

^Yeah, I came up with Fiddys and sub-Fiddys.
Don’t y’all know I originate all the cool slang around here?
I try to, anyway. Doesn’t always work.
Don’t forget that ASJ came up with the actual name… didn’t you play a part in the creation of Walrian, though?
I’m still a teensy bit proud of post stealing, even though no one likes the term, it’s no longer relevant, and it meant I had to get a whole bunch of posts stolen and frame Walrian for not liking Little Child .
Thanks hun, didn’t feel like pointing it out myself 😉 <3 x
It’s the least I can do

Yeah, I just meant specifically the practice of using Fiddy to refer to the page/post thing, but I neglected to remember that it wasn’t obvious to people outside my head, so thanks for making it clear
And I think I did come up with Walrian. If I recall, some of us were PMing and someone asked what her nickname should be and I came up with several Walrus/Brian portmanteaus and that was the one that stuck.

It’s excellent but it does seem to have been mostly replaced by Walry, which is less clever but more familiar. I still call her Walrian occasionally, though. I think Bee Gee once likened my usage of it to a parent using their child’s full name to scold them.

You do come across as parental in that way at times.
Seriously though, when was the last time anyone has uttered (or typed) TheWalrusWasBrian? It’s either Walry or “mistylovesbagels.” She might as well just change her username to Walrian at this point… it’s essentially her full name.

Oh yeah, I remember that PM thread! Fun times.
But, I went back and found it just because I was curious, and it looks like it was actually me that came up with Walrian. Sorry if any bubbles have been burst.

@lovelyritametermaid what are you doing to study for it? I don’t know where to start, plus I’ve been distracted by studying for my APES exam, which is tomorrow ().

@lovelyritametermaid what are you doing to study for it? I don’t know where to start, plus I’ve been distracted by studying for my APES exam, which is tomorrow ().
I’ve just been doing timed practice essays that my teacher assigns– then I watch the videos she gives us reviewing the prompt and giving tips as well as the Collegeboard videos– I found those quite helpful as well.
Preparing for AP Lang would definitely be different than preparing for a DBQ– its not so much that you’re studying information but more so practicing a skill. Ask yourself these questions: Are you confident in your knowledge of rhetoric? Are you confident in your ability to analyze rhetoric? Could you read a passage only one and be able to easily and efficiently identify three rhetorical choices that have ample evidence to support them? Can you utilize that evidence to its fullest extent– are you able to provide effective commentary? Can you decipher a rhetorical situation from any text from any time period or culture, ranging from aged to contemporary? Are you able to easily connect each rhetorical choice to the writer’s argument, purpose, or message? Are you able to enhance your writing with style and sophistication– can you display to the AP graders that you can write at a college level with enlightened and educated prose and vocabulary, and are you able to be creative and persuasive in your writing at the same time? Are you able to demonstrate a complex understanding of the rhetorical situation? Do you know how to structure an intro paragraph? A body paragraph? A conclusion? Are you able to properly do all of this in just under 45 minutes?
After discussing with yourself these questions, sort your strengths and weaknesses and think of what you can do to improve such. If you’re not sure, ask your teacher. As I said before, the Collegeboard videos are also quite helpful. And if you’re still stuck, I can always be of assistance I highly recommend doing practice essays, but other exercises will help as well for priming the skills you need. You can analyze the rhetorical situation of anything— heck even Beatles songs! Do a quick SPACECAT analysis of any short snippets of media you encounter– and try to do it in under 10 minutes. Another exercise to prepare you is to write down a list of all the possible choices that you can think of a writer/speaker making (i.e. syntax, diction, allusion, metaphor, tone, logical reasoning, personal pronouns, empathetic language, parallelism, repetition, juxtaposition, etc, etc.) and then go through each one and make sure you understand their meaning enough to be able to easily identify them within an author’s piece, as well as brainstorm ways that an author can use them to enhance their argument. This will allow to practice the mindset that you will need to utilize as you analyze a passage and argue its significant choices.
Welp..that’s all the advice I have. In summary– practice!!
But, anyhoo, good luck on your APES test tomorrow!

Right. I’m posting this here as no idea where else.
@KaosTictaw, stop replying to yourself in threads, mods have deleted three so far and will continue to do so or go further. We are also able to remove links that go nowhere, which has also been done.
Thank you.
