So, Zig, who won last night? And Thursday night? And will win today and tomorrow? Oh yes, The Blue Jays. We don't even have Bautista and we still whipped your asses!
My dear mr. S – when will you ever learn not to get too over confident? With or without Bautisita (BTW, we are without A-Rod) your Jays beat our 4th and 5th starters. How proud you must have been.
That is of course until you ran into the buzz saws that are our 1st and 3rd starters. Our 2nd goes tonight against the Rays.
It's a looooooooooooong season, my friend. A season that currently shows us as having the third best record in ALL of baseball and your Jays having…well…shall we say a rough go of it? Ever hear the story about the young bull and the old bull? If not, ask someone who has.
By the way, I would always prefer to discuss baseball amicably. If you would rather keep discussing it by trying to bust my chops, that is up to you. I am perfectly happy to do it either way. I've left more than my share of doubters in my wake. What's one more?

(On the amicability point – complete agreement). And Zig, how often do you overlook very crucial facts? A team without a good fourth starter or a decent bullpen will be creamed in 3 games in the ALDS. Defence wins championships, after all. Your top 3 are very impressive, but your bullpen (other the Rivera) is weak. Even you can concede that point. Cheers.

I overlooked nothing my Canadian friend. In 2009 we went the whole post-season with virtually 3 starters. Sabbathia, Burnett, Pettite. Look it up instead of guessing. The length of time between games allows for that. This year, it's Sabbathia, Burnett, Hughes.
Your move.

Your bullpen is still in shatters, with the exception of your closer. Even if you can run 3 starters (I was mistaken), it means nothing unless you get 8 innings each and every start, which Hughes and Burnett can't give you EVERY start. You need a bullpen. Plain and simple. A toi, monsieur.
Edit: And Zig, the Yankees aren't even winning your own division. Boston or Cleveland could easily knock around Burnett or Hughes.

Have you lost your young, overly enthusiastic mind? Don't you ever get tired of refusing to let facts enter your discussions? Bullpen in shatters? Really?
Robertson – 1.24 ERA, 1.32 WHIP
Wade – 1.42 ERA, 0.87 WHIP
Ayala – 1.59 ERA, 1.27 WHIP
Rivera – 1.80 ERA, 1.03 WHIP (I know you excepted him, but read on McDuff)
If you are basing your incredibly foolish “shatters” statement on the likes of Noesi, Mitre and Logan, here's a news flash. With the possible exception of Logan (3.47/1.29) none of those guys will be anywhere near the playoffs unless they get tickets to the games – kinda like your Jays. Oh, and Rafael Soriano – last year's Rays closer relegated to 8th inning duty in our Bullpen – is on his way back as he is scheduled to pitch in a rehab stint tomorrow night.
Hear are some more cold, hard facts for you to choke on. Four good relievers is all you need in the post season. Once Soriano gets back and healthy, that makes four before we even get to Rivera. It's a completely different game in the playoffs. The Yankees have made a living out of getting 6, maybe 7 good innings from their starters and letting the pen take over. Of course, you are to be forgiven for that gross oversight. You don't have a whole lot of playoff experience to draw from, do you?
Can Boston or Cleveland kick us around in the playoffs? Hell yes. Can those two teams beat the Jays in the playoffs? We won't get to find out will we?

And yet you aren't following your own code. Instead of insulting me, phrase it differently. This may be the only time I'm not happy to see your post. If all you are going to do is insult me, you're wasting your own time.

Y'all are very defensive about your baseball teams, aren't y'all? And on the topic of baseball, it seems no one really likes the Cardinals. Oh well. But don't drag me into an argument about the best team because I know next to nothing about the teams.

mr. S – I don't believe I insulted you at all.
1 – Your mind is young (you said you are 14? 15?), and let's face it – overly enthusiastic (not always a bad thing).
2 – For the purposes of our last 2 discussions, you did fail to use facts to back up your thoughts. That is a fact, not an insult.
3 – I called your “shatters” statement foolish – not you.
4 – I cited and complimented your extensive knowledge of the Beatles.
I chose every word in an effort to not insult you. I don't roll that way.

To get off this unseemly discussion, has any one ever seen the great British comedy Yes Minister? (Or it’s sequel, Yes, Prime Minister, for that sake?) If you haven’t, find it. A spendid time is guarantied for all.
