@meanmistermustard Well it means less work this year and I could go to a University, as explained below. It also looks good on your resume. The hand-on work side of it is going well, we have to do an internship every year, and have to write reports about it and do assignments. We have to come up with goals for ourselves and have to work on them in our internships. There’s this list with competencies we have to have under control at the end of our studies. Every year we have this huge assignment at the end of the year to explain how we have worked on achieving these goals. Like I have told before, I’m now doing an internship at a sort of school care in a bad neighbourhood. Every week we’re trying to teach the children something and we play games and all. The thing is that we have to find out how they feel and what kind of problems they’re facing at home, since they’re from poor families where drinking, drugs and child abuse aren’t uncommon. It’s actually below my level, but it’s very hard to find an internship and this one was on the list, so I decided to take what I could get, plus it’s almost around the corner. It’s also a lot of fun. Very tiring though, some children are way too hyperactive for their own good and sometimes they really ruin the mood of the group.
@Ahhh Girl Yeah, we went shopping but I had high heels on and I knew I had to carry those bags and it would look ridiculous, so I only bought a few things which I could just hide in my school bag. My mom and sister both bought a coat so those bags were kind of big and heavy and it looked a bit stupid, everyone being dressed all fancy and then there’s us with shopping bags. We just went to McDonalds. I felt gross afterwards. I have really started to hate McDonalds and I hardly ever eat there. We had some time to kill after the stores were closed (they close at 6 pm here) so my mom took us to a restaurant thingie to drink wine. She also bought me a few little presents and felt bad because usually people who get their First Year Certificate get things like expensive jewellery and god knows what. I was pleased with my presents though, they were just a few nice things to put in my room and I love to decorate my room. I couldn’t care less about expensive jewellery. I didn’t even expect to get any presents.
@StrawberryFieldsForever It depends what kind of study you’re doing. We have Intermediate Vocacional Education, which has 4 different levels. With level 1 you can become a carpenter or a truck driver or something like that (not that there’s anything wrong with that, I just thought that by making examples it would be clearer), level 2 is administrative work, beauty school and stuff like that, I have no idea what level 3 is and if you have succeeded level 4 you can become a social worker and go to a University of Applied Sciences if you like. It takes 4 years, and a University of Applied Sciences takes 4 years as well. If you have a First Year Certificate or if you have done pre-university education in secondary school (which I have, but which I failed in the end because maths was mandatory and you had to get at least a 5 out of 10 on your finals and I just couldn’t, so I have re-done a few subjects in Higher Secondary Education) you can go to a University. The difference between a University of Applied Sciences and a University is that a University is more about the theory and a University of Applied Sciences is too, but practice also plays a big part, hence having to do an internship every year. You don’t have that in University. It’s more about the research and advanced part of things. University also takes 4 years. Usually chances of finding a job are better if you have followed a study at a University of Applied Sciences than if you have gone to University. Except of course if you have followed a study at a University of Applied Sciences before going to Uni.
Oh and thanks again for all the congratulations!

@LongHairedLady Reply to your post in Whatever Happened To… (stopping derailing that thread too much). It has been an interesting year, but not necessarily a good one! Most memorable bit of the year so far has been heart surgery.
So, you’ve moved! (Something about the White Album poster not going up yet?) How are you finding the new place? Better than the last, I hope. And how is work now, same job, different job?
It is good to have you back! You have been missed!
@Ron Nasty Yowza, heart surgery hey! I hope everything is better now that you’ve had it done, must have been quite the recovery!
I moved to an apartment! We were in an awful basement suite for way too long. This place is on the top floor (4th) so nobody above us for once! The area is great. Close to downtown and lots of laid back people. Very Greenwich Village.
Same job, but more responsibilities. It’s good though, makes things more interesting.
Thanks agin for the kind welcome. It’s good to be back!

So THIS bullshit is happing right now:
My partner updated his stupid iPhone just fine. He updated the mac just fine. I go to update my iPhone and some “unknown error” occurs… now this. Thanks Apple, the hundreds of pictures that I’ll never get back and all the contacts I won’t remember aren’t important or anything. So pissed right now. Praying it recovers…
I’ve stood up for Apple for so long but I am losing faith in them now.

Apple’s reputation and competence have slowly been ebbing away since Steve Jobs died. Everything they release comes with some major issue that needs to be taken off, fixed and then made available again, the latest iOS8 failure being expected. Thankfully for iTunes it has a very loyal customer base who overlook the problems, it certainly helps with the share price.
I refuse to download their apps as once downloaded you can’t get rid of the damn things, or so the reviews say.

So today on John’s birthday we just happened to have Hindi and Geography exams.
Anyways the Hindi composition topic was ‘a person who inspired you’ and I wrote about John. It was tough cause of the whole Hindi/English thing but I managed. I don’t think my teacher will be very pleased. She is like a anti-‘rest of the world’ sort of person.

Sorry about your photos. I had an error when trying to update my iPod touch and had to restore it, but luckily I had my photos backed up to iCloud. Did you try doing a local backup to preserve your data before restoring?

I have a white ipod 4 and will have until it breaks. I do not care about their latest “must have” gadgets that cost a fortune yet offer what i can live without. I dont see why anyone would get excited over a device that is 0.45% thinner than the last one and 16% faster, especially to the point of spending three days in a queue to buy one of the things. Wait a few days after its been released and you’ll be able to walk in and buy it within 5 minutes.

I have the old school iPod – the one that holds a bazillion and 1 songs. Like you, I’ll keep it until it craps the bed. I got it free from a contest at work. Other than that, I have no interest in any other Apple products.

My son had a nice silver one with his name engraved on the back from when he became a teenager. Unfortunately the earphone plug broke off and is solidly wedged in the hole it fits into – and there is no way to play music through its internal speaker when it thinks it has earplugs inserted. This seems to be a common problem – but we have tried every suggestion to remove it that the net has to offer with no luck. The quote to get it fixed is about the price of a new portable system

I am currently hating Gmail! I had a list of emails that needed sending, so – knowing I’d be up into the early hours of this morning watching by-elections results – I settled in to get as many done as I could. They had attachments on them so it was a long job. I was about 75% of the way through the roughly 40 emails that needed sending and the attachments failed, so I tried another couple of times with the same results. I knew there was no problem with the attachments as they had already been sent to somebody else, so I decided to log out and log back in to see if that solved the problem.
When I tried to log back in, I got this:
Unusual Usage — Account Temporarily Locked Down
To keep our systems healthy, Google has temporarily disabled your account. This primarily occurs when we detect unusually high levels of activity on your account. In most cases, it should take one hour to regain access. In rare cases, it can take up to 24 hours for access to be reinstated.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience.
It has unlocked a few times since, but every time I have tried to continue from where I had reached, it just comes up “saving” and does nothing else. So I log out and try to log back in, I get the same locked message again.
The last time it locked was about five hours, and it’s still locked.

@Ron Nasty I blame Apple!
I mean Google’s strict policies…
I hope that gets sorted out because email problems are a piano. Apparently someone in the Middle East tried to log in to mine, and Google didn’t let them in, so in that case I was thankful for their policies, but sometimes they’re ridiculous. One particular thing I didn’t like was whenever Google+ was created how you automatically got an account if you had a Google email.
Some people probably send lots of attachments often for job purposes or other important things. Not allowing people to do what they want with their emails is really stupid.
Edit: PAIN! Not piano. See AG my phone wants you to know you still cant predict it!

Piano and things = Good.
Pianos and thongs = Add Pattie and you’ve got a dream of mine.
Pain and thongs = Yikes! Does not sound fun!
What, is it Paul’s piano you’re thinking about or something else?
