I just got home a couple hours ago from New York to visit my friend that just got released from prison last month, along with my parents. I’ve been wanting to visit my friend for a while and luckily for me, my landlord wanted to see one of his childhood friends and owns a car, so he let me go with him as long as I did everything that popped up in his head. We left Thursday night and got there at about 6:00 PM. Seeing my parents was interesting because I guessed that they still lived in the house we moved to in 1977 and they were still living there. It was the first time I saw them since 1992 and they sure were aging. My father is 77 now and I think he has Dimentia because he was using a cane, he thinks that George W Bush is the current president, his bodily functions are fading, and out of nowhere during dinner, he started talking about the Vietnam War and how he hated how everyone was against it. To think that the 1st gen Beatles fans are starting to go senile. Overall, it was great to see them and I even got to spend the night there. The next day, I decided to see my friend and I just happened to see him while getting lunch at McDonalds. He talked about how he’s trying to change his life around after spending 12 years in prison, how it sucks to be on parole because he’s not allowed to have weapons, alcohol, or be off his property later than 8:00. Then when his shift was over, we went to his parents house (I know he’s 50, but he can’t afford a house entirely by himself) and had dinner. After that, we played outside for a bit and talked about what happened in our lives in the last 20 years and listened to the entire White Album . When his parents were asleep, we got on the computer in the living room and watched Heavy Metal (luckily, his parole officer doesn’t care what he watches, as long as it isn’t child porn or anything else that is illegal). The next morning at 5am, we have breakfast and I got to meet his parole officer and see how much respect he has compared to the wild, remorseless, reckless guys we were back in the 70’s and 80’s when we were doing whatever came to our head. We left yesterday at 2pm and finally got back home at around noon today.

What were your parents in for? Did you go visit them before visiting your friend?

They weren’t expecting me, but they liked seeing their only son after 24 years of not knowing what the hell I was doing or where I was.
I went to see my parents from Friday night to Saturday morning and my friend from Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.

Congratulations. Good on you @William Shears Campbell.
Now, can you explain what that sign means grammatically to a Scot, not the general gist which i get. “Slurp up the chance” = suck up noisily the chance!

So at this gas station store called 7-Eleven they have this thing called a “Slurpee” that’s very popular. It’s basically an Icee but carbonated. So it is a pun on SLURpees, which I had one for her when I asked her. There’s also a picture of one on the poster.

I know the drink so the pun must be an American thing.

I suppose so. Do you guys oppose to puns up in Scotland? We have puns (horrible word); i think the above gets lost in translation.
There isn’t a whole lot to “get,” really.

Today I was looking back at my journal from 1996 and I was writing about The Beatles. I had a dream about them, and I transcribed the dream, and I was writing about how they seemed to symbolize a force of Revolution or change in society. It’s weird because I didn’t own any Beatles albums then and didn’t think I was a fan at that time.

I have a cold.
I only hope you get better.
Speaking of cold, that doesn’t exist down here in Vegas. The people here become a bunch of pansies when it comes to weather that’s below 90-115 F. It’s finally started to cool down in the mornings, and this week it’s been about 65-70F in the morning which is nice, however the same people that complained about the heat are complaining about how cold it is now.

I just got my braces adjusted and, miracle of miracles, they don’t hurt too bad!
Remembering the late great Richard (Rick) Wright, keyboardist and (usually) my favourite member of the Pink Floyd, who died eight years ago today.
