Inspired by a (very, very long) discussion in the In My Life thread, here is an appropriate thread!
Basically, if you have any albums or singles out in the internet, share it here!
I’ll start with a link to my band’s page: https://schwarzewolke.bandcamp…..m/releases
Anyone else have any albums?

Thank you so much for the best half hour of entertainment I’ve had in ages. Your album is truly brilliant – the music and production was very impressive, pristinely recorded and fresh sounding. I particularly liked the harmonica. What software did you use to record it?
What really got me was the lyrics though, I was in hysterics. ‘Milkman, milkman, Please don’t let my milk go bad’ is probably gonna be stuck in my head now. You must really like milk.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Thanks a lot @QuarryMan!
I have a two imput audiobox that I plugged into my computer and recorded using garageband. I now have a new computer and a friend loaned me Logic, but my audiobox is no longer compatible with it, so I can’t record anything else until I get a new version.

A review of Deceitful Winter by Schwarzewolke:
Released in 2017, Deceitful Winter marks the debut of Australian rock band Schwarzewolke. It starts with Video Killed The Radio Star, a cover of the 1979 hit, which starts off with a quote from Michael “Vsauce” Stevens, similar to Two Of Us , which is a nice homage. However, the song ends in a total trainwreck that’s very unpleasant to listen to. Another thing i’d like to point out is the lack of guitar. There is no electric guitar on this release unless if you count bass and the only 2 acoustic guitar parts on this entire album sound terrible, like as if they were performed by people who don’t know how to play guitar. Some other flaws include the drums being mixed to highly in some songs, the instruments occasionally being offbeat, and some songs taking from other songs, such as Imaginary Realism, which takes heavy influence from Luigi’s Mansion.
Now it may seem like i think that Deceitful Winter sucks but that’s not true, the original tracks are the best part of the album, especially the instrumentals, with Latino and The Hunchback Of Notre Dame being highlights. In conclusion, while the release may be flawed, I’ve definitely heard worse and the instrumentals are pretty solid.
However, i would consider this to be a demo and not an album due to it’s unpolished and unprofessional nature, as well as having lots of covers, hence why i avoided using the word album when describing this release, and i expect to hear a couple of these songs improved upon on their debut album or next demo, depending on what you decide to go for.
Although this isn’t typical of reviewers, here’s some complimentary partially solicited advice for your debut album or next demo:
1. Using a metronome, this may seem stupid but even the most professional artists use a metronome. For example, you can hear a metronome during the 1st verse of Good Morning Good Morning by The Beatles. I hope i don’t come off as mean but your band seems to occasionally get offbeat.
2. Upload your music to YouTube, if you do this then your band can become more popular.
3. Don’t be afraid to do retakes, take 1 isn’t always the best take so unless if you went through the whole song pretty much perfectly on the 1st take, do another take and keep doing them until you get a good take worthy of being placed on an album.
4. The album needs more guitar on it, whether it be acoustic or electric, i’d like to see more guitar and maybe even some songs centered around the guitar on your debut album.
5. I’d like to see more original songs. Out of the 14 songs on your demo, only 5 of those songs are original and 3 of them are instrumentals, oddly enough the 3 best tracks on the demo.
6. Make the drums a little quieter in the mix, some songs have the drums a little too loud.
7. Don’t be afraid to ask us for overdubs or mixing, i’d be glad to do some overdubbing and i bet others on the forum would be glad to as well.
8. This may seem odd to say but i’d like to hear a little more instrumental variety, all i can hear for the most part is keys and drums, some french horn or guitar or sax would be nice for a few songs.

We certainly did, swr! Fun was the main objective, music came second for some songs!
wow, DO, I wasn’t expecting that much detail! I’ll reply to that When I Get Home , as I hardly have Any Time At All right now! But thanks!

I wouldn’t say there needs to be guitar on the album, @Dark Overlord . Many great bands/artists don’t often use guitars.

There couldn’t have been a better language, eh?
@Dark Overlord Some of your critics may be very helpful but do you really need to call Deceitful Winter a ‘demo’ instead of an album? It sounded a bit derogatorily to me but maybe that’s also one big misunderstanding. Anyway, I think that the artist decides what he wants to express with their artwork and if every artist decided to make ‘professional and polished’ arts, to use your words, there wouldn’t be expressionism or avant-garde or Never Mind The Bollocks Here’s The Sex Pistols, so thes above are by no means criteria to diminish the quality of a recording to an extent that it can’t be called an album anymore.
So, all I am saying, I think that schwarzewolke can decide best by themselves whether they produced an album or an EP or a demo or whatever on earth. ( And personally, I didn’t have the feeling it didn’t sound like an album at any point. The more I think about it, the more all the snippets of talking remind me of Let It Be , in fact.)
All in all, I love the idea of this thread, I hope to get a few songs recorded these holidays which I would really like to share with you all then since I’m apparently surrounded by experts. (Above all sir walter: I’ve already loved the medley when I listened to it for the first time, your vocal versatility and multi-instrumentalism is so, so stunning!)

The song was supposed to end somewhat chaotically, but got out of hand!
Well, considering I’m the only person who can actually play guitar in our group, and I was busy on drums, and we didn’t want any overdubs, that meant no guitar. Which is fine, really, as not all bands have to have a guitar. And yes, the two acoustic guitar parts were played by someone who can’t play guitar, which was part of the joke. Well, consider this: Half the songs were recorded from one microphone, and the other half were recorded from two microphones, so I tried my hardest to try reduce the volume of the drums, but it was very, very hard. The only two true ‘original’ songs were Imaginary Realism and Latino… But I didn’t have much of a say in either, as they were essentially jams.
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy it! I agree, the album is a bit flawed, but that’s part of what we were aiming for (‘I was looking at the people in the other room, hoping they would look at us wondering what the hell was going on’ – lead singer on Video Killed The Radio Star)
Well, I disagree. It was an album that shows what we were trying to achieve perfectly. You won’t hear any of those songs on our new album, we wanted to do lots of new songs.
Although this isn’t typical of reviewers, here’s some complimentary partially solicited advice for your debut album or next demo:
Thanks!
1. Using a metronome, this may seem stupid but even the most professional artists use a metronome. For example, you can hear a metronome during the 1st verse of Good Morning Good Morning by The Beatles. I hope i don’t come off as mean but your band seems to occasionally get offbeat.
We simply don’t have time. We get 30 minutes at a time at most, and setting up headphones for a metronome as well as microphones, and rehearsing the song again, and working out details, we would never get anything done. We usually only end up recording the best take 3 or 4 minutes before we have to get out.
But I do agree, we need to work on timing.
2. Upload your music to YouTube, if you do this then your band can become more popular.
Yes, great idea! (except we don’t own copyright…)
3. Don’t be afraid to do retakes, take 1 isn’t always the best take so unless if you went through the whole song pretty much perfectly on the 1st take, do another take and keep doing them until you get a good take worthy of being placed on an album.
We’re not, in fact, for our cover of Here Comes The Sun on our next album, we took 16 takes. Though about 6 songs on Deceitful Winter were done on the first take.
4. The album needs more guitar on it, whether it be acoustic or electric, i’d like to see more guitar and maybe even some songs centered around the guitar on your debut album.
Well, it doesn’t NEED it. Sure, you like guitar, I understand, but we couldn’t use it on our first album. Though as of right now, 8/12 of the songs have guitar (maybe more for the future)
5. I’d like to see more original songs. Out of the 14 songs on your demo, only 5 of those songs are original and 3 of them are instrumentals, oddly enough the 3 best tracks on the demo.
But only 3 were true originals, the other 2 were parodies. On our new album, that number will go down, unfortunately, I agree with you, but my band mates don’t.
6. Make the drums a little quieter in the mix, some songs have the drums a little too loud.
Can’t help it for most songs – One track or two tracks is very hard to mix, and you can only make the drums a little bit quieter.
7. Don’t be afraid to ask us for overdubs or mixing, i’d be glad to do some overdubbing and i bet others on the forum would be glad to as well.
Though I take music mixing classes, so it’s also really good practice for me.
8. This may seem odd to say but i’d like to hear a little more instrumental variety, all i can hear for the most part is keys and drums, some french horn or guitar or sax would be nice for a few songs.
We have achieved this already in our next album.
-a sax solo during an outro
-bongos for one song
-electric guitar
-(hopefully…) a song with trumpet, french horn and tenor sax
Thanks again for the review!
@sir walter raleigh: I love it! It’s got a really, really nice groove, and it has been mixed really well. It’s a very crisp sound, and I actually quite enjoyed the off-centre vocals. Also, the lyrical content is simply a masterpiece!
