OK! Would someone write up a summary post? I will pin it to be the 2nd post in the thread. Make sure to add the post number range that encompases the work on the song.
Post range is 221 – 292 from when it was imported into the thread to when I suggested a new project (I’m an ideas guy!). There’s probably some introductory stuff in the thread it was taken from but basically:
The new project began when it was realized that the previous project (a cover of all White Album songs) was probably dead. I suggested we do something easier, just one song, and suggested how that could be accomplished. Several members agreed and I became the clearing house for tracks and also the mix engineer. We decided to do With A Little Help From My Friends reasonably close to the original. No kazoos were abused in this recording although temporary ukuleles were unmercifully tortured and removed. We worked from a click track to help with synchronising contributions, and several contributors sent in more than one track of different instruments! We are lucky to find such a good bunch of talents! As contributions were made I added them to the mix and made regular internet acetates so they could hear how their work was included and could suggest changes. This collaborative effort worked well and we got a great result.
All responsibility for quality is however, my fault, as I fiddled with everything.
A list of contributors was made at post 277, and it is affixed here with some improvements:
@ewe2: bass, guitar, cmons, mix
@Beatlebug : cmons, handclaps, woos
@The Hole Got Fixed : drums, shaker, cmons
@pepperland : lead guitar
@sir walter raleigh : lead vox
@WeepingAtlasCedars : COWBELL
@Dark Overlord : intro guitars
The final mix (from post 292): https://drive.google.com/open?…..RXKkkseMZB

Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

So, this was an idea Faceo and I had a while ago, I didn’t want to do anything about it until he returned but I keep seeing it mentioned around the forum (and by George [Ringo, John, and Paul!] I think he’s back! Is that you, @IveJustSeenAFaceo?).
I mentioned that I was thinking about a big project, covering the White Album , and Faceo offered help. We wondered if it’d be possible to have a bunch of people who’d never met successfully create music together over the Internet. And as soon as we got some stuff together we were going to tell you all and see if you were interested. I guess nows’s the time!
But first I want to see if the majority of people think its a good idea. Many problems could arise the biggest being getting people in the band. We could probably hold “auditions” where people would post videos playing an instrument, but all of you on the forum are so great and I wouldn’t want to tell anyone they weren’t good enough to join. Either someone would end up with hurt feelings or we’d have a subpar band. The only way around that is to know what I told Faceo, you’re “auditioning” to be in a group with musical perfectionists. When I record I usually have many, many takes and sometimes I’m not pleased with the final result either, I’ve finished some things without posting them because of that.
If you’re okay with that and know there’s a chance you might not be in the group, then if enough people are in favor of the idea you can audition.
Now, even if we make this group it may only be for a test song or two (maybe the White Album singles as that’s the album we’d probably do first together,) just to see if it works out. If it does may continue, if it doesn’t, we won’t.
So far we have:
Mr. Kite: Bandleader (although well be mostly equal in the group ill just do final editing/mixing etc) and guitarist
Faceo: Bassist (and if I’m unavailable co-bandleader if he’s okay with that)
Many problems could arise, and like I said, don’t want to make anyone feel bad, so lets vote:

My guitar skills are nowhere good enough for this band so I’ll discreetly and respectfully decline to be a part of it, thanks. I’d love the opportunity to contribute avant-garde saxophone noise to a version of “Helter Skelter ” however (I even own my own alto!)
(I’ve got an old cassette recording, made on a old Walkman back in 1991, of me honking away in free-form fashion. The batteries were dying while recording, and somehow this added an amazing layer of fuzztone-like distortion to the sound, in addition to speeding it up since the tape was rolling slower. Really cool one-of-a-kind recording!)

I like perfectionism in music, but I’m not keen on trying to reproduce covers that sound exactly like the original. I tend to like making covers that differ from the original on purpose (as long as the new variations sound good, of course).
I could play acoustic guitar. I’m also good at Will Ferrell cowbell…

Musically, I tend to keep them similar. But often, I’ll write an extra verse or guitar solo just to surprise people.

@Funny Paper Our idea was to do some covers true to the original an some that were completely our own thing, so if you want to contribute to the latter (If this becomes a thing) I’d love it.
VB, that sax thing might help!
And why wouldn’t we perform for you all, @Necko?

I have nothing to hide! I just really like that visual distortion, especially since it kind of parallels the distorted sonics it’s accompanying.
