Now that I think of it, it’s understandable that they would do that, as those songs are rejects from the Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour sessions except for Hey Bulldog , which was made specifically for the movie.
Maybe you should try posting more.

I listened to the B-side today and it’s not as bad as people put it out to be. Sure, it was greedy of George Martin to put his own orchestra’s song on side B, thereby delaying the release of the album until January 1969 but i must say, George has some great tastes in music and cares about all instruments, there’s acoustic and electric guitars on a few songs, one song starting off with an electric guitar being played with a wah pedal, and the final song even uses maracas.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

I’ve been saying that for a long time…
March Of The Meanies is particularly good IMO.

I quite enjoy George Martin’s orchestrations. I did it the very first time i listened to them and still do. I think he was a great composer/arranger and could be at the very same level as Esquivel, Mancini, Baxter or any other. His melodies were beautiful and his arrangements pretty clever and funny.

It’s excellent music for sure, just not Beatles.

Dark OverlordI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Martin’s scores are Beach Boys -esq at some points.
"The pump don't work cause the vandals took the handles!"
-Bob Dylan, Subterranean Homesick Blues
"We could ride and surf together while our love would grow"
-Brian Wilson, Surfer Girl

Inspired by @Beatlebug I’m listening through to the b-side (albeit not in any order…) and it’s much better than I remember. March Of The Meanies is really quite good and Pepperland ain’t bad either. Honestly the amount of french horn used warms my heart. It doesn’t deserve the hate that it gets.

I’ve always loved March Of The Meanies . I’ll have to revisit pepperland and the others, but i’ll probably love them, too.

First thought was an EP, in around September 1968. No work was done on it, and then it was postponed for the release of the White. After that came the complaints about Beatles fans being short-changed, and them considering the complaint enough to put together a five track EP in March 1969 (adding Across The Universe to the four unreleased soundtrack recordings). Ultimately, nothing was done with it until Mono Masters decades later.

I quite liked the orchestral stuff when I heard it on the film…………One in particular.
GM was tops as an arranger.
As an indication I recently I found out that GM wrote GH’s ‘Michelle ‘ guitar solo for him.
