Being a US release I never realised all but one song on ‘Meet The Beatles’ is an original. It’s not their US debut album but considering the non-Capitol releases did nothing until ‘IWTHYH’ hit that must have been some achievement.
I don’t think there was any widespread distribution of Introducing the Beatles until IWTHYH hit anyways.
Introducing… The Beatles was the only release before Meet The Beatles in the US as far as I know, and I…TB only came out like 10 days or so before MTB.
From Wiki:
….despite the claims of many older Beatles books and discographies that Introducing… The Beatles was first released on 22 July 1963,[11][12][13] no documentation exists to confirm that the album was released at any time in 1963.[14]
I’ve been reading books on the Beatles since god knows when and that’s what I was going by.
Yeah, Introducing… The Beatles was released in 1964 like Meet The Beatles. It was just released a few days before Meet The Beatles

Vee-Jay issued four LP albums, four singles, and an EP out of the 16 tracks it gained from its 1963 license period.
That’s quite brilliant.

I do not see much sense in putting together such a non-cover-album – the main question remains: what would have happened eventually to the cover-songs?
Covers such as Roll Over Beethoven , Till There Was You and Please Mr. Postman are vocal highlights on the LP – I do not want to miss them.
However, the already recorded One After 909 would have been a fine addition to the album.
All six songs of the 3rd to 5th singles had also been recorded before With The Beatles came out:
From Me To You / Thank You Girl
She Loves You / I´ll get You
I Want To Hold Your Hand / This Boy
– but it was the policy then not to include singles on the next album (Please Please Me was an exception, as were the soundtrack albums A Hard Day´s Night and Help !)
So we´re already up to 15 original songs … which one to get rid of?

‘Hold Me Tight ‘. Dig a very deep pit, throw all trace of the piece of crap in, fill the pit up with soil, add another layer of soil, add grass, build a brilliant children’s play park on it.

When I read post 23 last night, I just knew I’d wake up to a post 24, and it would be mmm sharing his mild displeasure of Hold Me Tight …

I hadn’t expressed my loathing of the song in a while and such opportunities need to be utilised.

I haven’t listened to the demo in a while, but I had it on today, and I think aside from maybe All My Loving , Bad To Me would have been the best song on the album. I suppose it was always intended to be given away to Billy J Kramer but it is interesting that they were sitting on some phenomenal original material and still opted to feature several covers on the album.
