“I love every goofy minute of it except that darn fiddle“
The fiddle makes the song work for me.
I have a love/hate relationship with the fiddle to be honest. Some days it adds spice to the mix, other days it grates upon my soul

Great post, but what prejudice do you have against bluegrass fiddle, @ewe2 ?
Hehe @Von Bontee I’ve just got an issue with that particular fiddle, depending on my mood I love bluegrass, honest! You’re right about filler on a big album, just wanted to cover the inevitable discussion about whether it should have been cut down, I’m in your camp on that. But I do avoid Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da most times (and does anyone slightly stiffen when they hear the beginning on Beatles Christmas Record 1968? Thank God Paul plays some plinky Xmas stuff almost immediately. The last of the funny ones ).

I love the White Album (or The Beatles to give its official game)
Anyway, Back In The USSR is the best opening song on any Beatles album….Well I think it is

I’m not a huge fan of Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da as it exists on the finished product we know as The White Album .
The bootleg version of Take 5, though? The one found on Anthology 3 , From the Basement to the Boardroom, or Ultra Rare Trax 5?
I freaking love that one. More prominent acoustic guitar, more driving bongos, and a killer sax (?) riff at the end of each bridge. Can’t get enough of that version, and I really wish they’d used that on the album instead.

Don’t forget White Album lovers, @Mr Kite is putting together a Beatles Bible Band version. Plenty done already but it needs more vocals and plenty of other stuff. Details on the BBB thread here.

Maybe I dreamed this, but it seems to me that someone on the forum was wondering who had the 9th copy of the White Album . Perhaps it was @Bongo.
Anyway, here’s the information.
Others close to the band were also given low numbers. Producer George Martin got No 0000007 and press officer Derek Taylor No 0000009. No 0000005 – which on gave to a close but as yet unnamed friend – came up for sale in 2008. It fetched almost $30,000.
Ringo got #1. Which Beatle got #2, #3, and #4?

#1 is at 95k in the bidding so far, tomorrow is the big day your time. I’d bet on Paul having #2 and maybe George getting #3.

@Bongo, where did you get the idea that there may be more than 1 #0000001?

It’s in the article you linked to, AG:
The seven digits would seemingly have let it run up to an edition of 10 million. In fact, it possibly ran even higher. Each country numbered its own pressing, starting at No 0000001. So that’s several tens of millions more variants, at least. Maybe more. It has long been rumoured that while the first 100 were spread around friends, family and associates, there were actually multiple copies of each number. Some say four, some say 12. Which could mean even Ringo’s isn’t the only No 1.

Oh. Guess I didn’t read that part of the article.
Too many numbers (math!!!!) In there for me. And then getting excited about the #9 copy. And one other reason my mind got distracted…

So, Paul’s memory of John calling bagsy could be right. At least for that moment in time, even if there are other 1’s.
Did each Beatle get a 0000001? Maybe John got the first 0000001?

It is possible that John called “bagsy” on #0000001 of a foreign edition, @Ahhh Girl, possibly the first US #0000001. Ringo says he has #0000004 for America. However, there is only one version that is the first copy of the commercial run, numbered #0000001, and that is the first UK commercial disc, which is what Ringo’s selling. There may be other #1s but only the UK #1 counts.

Speaking of #0000001, the bidding is up to 100k and it’s still going. Ringo’s #2 Ludwig kit went for 2.1million! And John’s Rickenbacker went for only 910k!

Thank you for keeping things sorted out correctly, RN.
12 bids so far on Ringo’s White Album . Currently it is at $100,000. His Ludwig drum kit went for $2.1 million. Wow!

I need to slow down and think before I post.
Didn’t the article mean that there could have been four (or ten) UK 0000001’s?
EDIT: I am hoplessly confused by that paragraph.
