OK – I understand the thinking behind the “White Album as a single disk” discussion. So I’m just going to add this as a side comment – something I am sure we all realize anyway.
At the very least from Rubber Soul on, Beatles albums were more than just a collection of songs – they were musical photographs of where the band was at – with the world, with each other, with their fame, with their experience as Beatles, etc.
So to cut out anything for the White Album is to truncate the point that was being expressed – and in fact in my opinion – the point being made by the White Album is that The Beatles as a group could no longer contain the expanding creative needs of the four artists who made up the band.
In that context, to me, Let It Be and Abbey Road make perfect sense.
Not trying to be a drag – just expressing myself – which is of course teh cool thign about this site.

I agree with you 100% robert. I was just going from the standpoint that was wanting the band to release it as a single disk. I thought it would be cool if we could play for a day.

Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey
Why these arn’t in:
Back In The U.S.S.R – Great song, but I’ve heard it to many times.
Wild Honey Pie – It’s short.
Martha My Dear – Not one of my favorites.
Blackbird – I’ve heard it to many times.
Why Don’t We Do It On The Road? – I don’t feel very comfortable listening to this in front of my dad while in the car.
I Will – Never really paid attention to the song.
Julia – There are better sad songs, by The Beatles.
Mother Nature’s Son – It’s pretty good, and I considered it, but spaces are limited.
Sexy Sadie – I just don’t love it.
Helter Skelter – I’ve heard it a lot, but it almost made the list.
Long, Long, Long – Maybe if I had to add another by George.
Revolution 1 – I already have Revolution on The Past Masters .
Honey Pie – Just not the greatest.
Savoy Truffle – It was close.
Cry Baby Cry – I thought about adding it.
Revolution 9 – Maybe, if it was backmasked.
Good Night – It’s not amazing, or anything.
When I Twish And Shout, it makes the Girl say "What Goes On?", and than I say, "I do this Here, There and Everywhere", and than she finishes by saying "Honey Don't".

“Martha My Dear – Not one of my favorites.”
It’s possibly my favorite song EVER. Why can’t your mind fathom the awesomeness? (AKA Why didn’t you like it?)

Atta boy, it’s excellent, eh? One of Paul’s best grooves.
Tongue, lose thy light. Moon, take thy flight… see ya, George!

I feel like I'll never have a complete list, which is what's so cool about this album, there are so many songs. I can't believe George Martin would want to get rid of Beatle songs, it would have been such a waste! We would have had to discover those songs on Anthology cd's or maybe youtube videos. Imagine waiting around for Revolution 9 instead of Carnival Of Light ! It would have been such a disappointment, which is why there's no way that Carnival Of Light will be good, but I bet it will be at least a little bit interesting…this was before Yoko so John would have been more involved with the group plus Paul put it together. Anyway, getting off subject, but I just think it would have been a shame if this would have been made into a single album.

13.”Martha My Dear “
14.”Good Night “
Sort of on-topic… does anyone else absolutely LOVE the transition from “Revolution 9 ” to “Good Night ?”

I love all the transitions in this album, the flamenco guitar solo between Wild Honey Pie and Bungalow Bill, the “HEY OH” right between Bungalow Bill and While My Guitar Gently Weeps , the nonsense between I'm So Tired and Blackbird , the “cheeky bitch” right before Revolution 9 . The album just flows really well.

Yeah! Totally!
I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.

Hmm… I was just wondering if anyone put songs they don't actually like on their albums. My least favorite song from my selection is “Yer Blues .” I put it there because it sounded cool….

Let me try this again, didn't see the 14 song rule…
Side 1:
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (again, the single version, it's more powerful)
I'm So Tired
Side Two:
Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey
Revolution (The single version, makes sense with two heavy songs next to each other)
What's The New Mary Jane (Should have been on The White Album )
Revolution 9 (The Avant-garde fades out)
Without going out of my door, I can know all things on Earth

Possibly one of these?
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Not the single version, I meant the slower acoustic version George had on Anthology 3

Ah. The eligibility of “Anthology” versions (as well as “Hey Jude “/”Revolution “) makes this into a different task altogether! (LOTTA folks would definitely choose “Revolution ” over “Revolution 1 “)

Ok I'm going to derail this thread… well kind of.
I did something with the White Album today… I listened to John's songs only.. and holy cow I was totally blown away. I haven't really checked if you can make a single album out of his songs, but it would have been a solid one.
What do you think?
