On quality of songs and running order, I’d go with the following ideal White Album (excluding Don’t Pass Me By because it’s a terrible song and having 4 Harrison songs because his songwriting was much better by 1968)
Side A:
Back In The USSR / Dear Prudence / Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey / Mother Nature’s Son / Sour milk sea (Jackie Lomax version but with Beatles singing) / While My Guitar Gently Weeps (acoustic) / I will
Side B:
Happiness Is A Warm Gun / Blackbird / Not guilty / Julia / Helter skelter (but in a different version with less hysterical singing) / Long long long / Revolution (ending in discordant chaos a bit like Revolution 9 or in What’s The New Mary Jane ?)

A- Side
1.) While My Guitar Gently Weeps
3.) Dear Prudence
4.) Glass Onion
5.) The Continuing Story of Bungallow Bill
6.) Revolution
B
1.) Helter Skelter
3.) Piggies
4.) Yer Blues
5.) Don’t Pass Me By
6.) Sexy Sadie
notes: The rest of the songs on the album are still very good, but they’re just fillers to me.
The ones I selected have meaning and were looked at as more of masterpieces rather than a connecting song.

I think the White Album is just fine. A masterpiece in fact. It’s a sprawling collection of good songs, great songs, and not-so-good songs that don’t work very well on their own, but work wonderfully within the context of the other tracks. Plus, as the title implies, it’s just the Beatles being the Beatles. But if I had to cut it down, it would go something like this…
Side 1:
- Back In The USSR
- Dear Prudence
- Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da
- While My Guitar Gently Weeps
- Happiness Is A Warm Gun
- Blackbird
- Don’t Pass Me By

I’m going to be super lazy here, I like @adam ‘s but I’m going to change things around a bit.

Dear Prudence
It really underlines what a John album the White Album is that it’s easier to pick good John songs than good Paul songs and to be able to sequence them more easily. Always wanted to split USSR and Prudence apart on separate sides, though. Restricting George songs felt unfair, you have to choose between three great songs other than WMGGW, but I think Savoy Truffle doesn’t get enough love particularly for the great lead guitar.

Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Side 1:
- Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey
- While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Blue Album version/Single version)
- Happiness Is A Warm Gun
- Martha My Dear
- I’m So Tired
- Blackbird
- Revolution 1
Side 2
- Helter Skelter
- Long, Long, Long
- Why Don’t We Do It in the Road – I actually don’t like this song that much, but I have to include it, because no other song works right before I Will .
- I Will
- Cry Baby Cry
- Revolution 9
- Good Night
That was really hard. There were so many songs I didn’t want to exclude (Yer Blues , Sexy Sadie , for example), but there was no good place for them.

Hello! First post here. I was browsing around for information on White Album outtakes and things like that, and I came across this thread that seems to be made for exactly what I am trying to do. I did manage to follow the 14 song rule technically, but the track numbers are a bit lopsided between the two sides. Here:
Side One:
- Blackbird (2:18) – original mix
- Dear Prudence (3:45) – fade-in to avoid the airplane sound effect and quick fade-out before the end
- Sexy Sadie (3:07) – fade-in during the middle, cuts out during fade-out
- I’m So Tired (2:07) – intro starts during the end to Sexy Sadie , fade-out is used on end of first chorus to create a longer section of silence
- Helter Skelter (4:25) – cuts off before studio chatter
- Why Don’t We Do It In The Road? (1:37) – “I’ve got blisters on my fingers” inserted to match the beat, cuts before the last note
- Wild Honey Pie (0:52) – features the airplane sound effect building up over the ending
- Back In The USSR (2:36) – starts at first guitar notes, final note of WDWDIITR tacked on at the end with the cymbal disguising the airplane sound effect cutting off
- Julia (2:54) – original mix
Side Two:
- Birthday (2:44) – original mix
- Piggies (2:03) – features the opening piano notes and the four-beat drum count of DPMB
- Don’t Pass Me By (3:29) – starts after the first four drum beats, an added fade-out after the last chorus gets cut off
- While My Guitar Gently Weeps (4:44) – original mix
- Revolution 1 (4:33) – fade-in begins after “take two”, coda features multiple samples from Revolution 9 and Can You Take Me Back, R1 cuts out after a sample of “if you become naked”, followed by the coda from Revolution 9
The total time is 41:14. I know there are a ton of songs that most people would want on here, but I mainly tried to make it flow lyrically and emotionally, giving a concept album-like feel.

Easy, just have 1 George, 1 Ringo, 4 Paul, and the rest John like the older albums did: (NOTE: I am using a 17 track version because it fits more perfectly)
Side 1:
3. Glass Onion
4. The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill
5. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
7. I’m So Tired
8. Julia
Side 2:
1. Birthday
2. Yer Blues
3. Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey
4. Sexy Sadie
6. Revolution (single version)
7. Cry Baby Cry (without Can You Take Me Back)
8. Hey Jude (I know it doesn’t belong, but it was recorded during the sessions)

Tough one. I’m gonna start with what i absolutely don’t want on the album.
1:Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da
I hate this song with a passion. Get it off the album and the album would be better (still my favourite album tho)
This is a experimental filler. No thanks.
3:The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill
This one isn’t just as great as many other.
4:Why Don’t We Do It On The Road
I kinda like this one but still. No harm if it wouldn’t be on the album.
5:Birthday
I don’t like this song. I skip it sometimes.
Boring. Isn’t needed.
Now we’re done from 30 to 24 songs. Still not enough.
Songs that i guess could be removed.
Sorry. Not sorry.
2:Piggies
Love this one. But it’s not on the perfect copy.
Too depressing. Sounds like it from Plastic Ono Band by John Lennon .
4:Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey
Guess it can be left of. Still a fan of it.
Well goodbye Honey Pie .
Not a huge fan of this song TBH.
Interesting but no.
Also i’m sorry but:
Cry Baby Cry , Martha My Dear and Sexy Sadie is out.
14 songs is enough.
Now we’re down to 17 songs. That is enough right?
Side 1
1:Revolution 1 (or the song just called Revolution if i can replace a song?)
2:Back In the U.S.S.R (Fix the intro a bit and it would be perfect!)
3:Dear Prudence (They need to be back to back)
6:Rocky Racoon
Side 2
2:Don’t Pass Me By (It needs to be a Ringo song on the album.
3:Mother ‘s Natures Son
4:I Will
5:Julia

Considering that I want the 4 disc deluxe version of this album to be released, I don’t think I could narrow this down to one disc. The lads were right when they made this a double LP. I honestly absolutely love every once of this album, from “Back In The USSR ” and “Blackbird ” to “Wild Honeypie” and “Revolution 9 “. I just love this album too much to alter it.

You guys are overthinking this, as you could fit this on a single LP and all you have to do is take out one track, Revolution 9 . Although the quality wouldn’t be as good as most would like, you can fit 90 minutes worth of music onto a single LP. I worked in a record shop from 1991 to 2010 and I know that there was an album released in 1976 called 90 Minutes With Arthur Fiedler Of The Boston Pops that has 90 minutes crammed into one vinyl, so all George Martin had to do was tell John to piss off and that Revolution 9 wasn’t going to be on the new album and they could’ve had a single LP instead of the double LP we got.
Maybe you should try posting more.

Maybe so but I believe the optimum length for vinyl is around 40 minutes per LP so 90 mins would be crappy sounding. I may be wrong.
John relented with ‘Whats The New Mary Jane’ (thankfully), he wasn’t going to give with ‘Revolution 9 ‘.

I like both Whats the New Mary Jane and Revolution Nine when I’m in the mood and feel like listening closely. If not, I’d rather here some more regular music.

They should’ve ended The Beatles with Hey Jude , as it would’ve helped it outsell Back In Black, Led Zeppelin IV, and maybe even Thriller.

They should have also put Revolution 2 instead of Revolution 1 …or both.
