I love the way on the anthology everyone from George Martin to Harrison and Ringo were saying there was too much info on a double album: cut to McCartney “I’m not a big one for ‘maybe it’s this or that’ what you complaining about? It’s great, it sold, it’s the bloody Beatles White Album : Shut Up!”

When the Anthology series was broadcast i watched it with my father and one of my brothers and i remember my dad laughing so loudly at that before yelling his agreement with Paul.

I thought that Ringo’s “Oh I agree, we shoulda released two of them, the White and the Whiter Album” was much funnier…:-)

No “I Will ” or “While My Guitar Gently Weeps “– well, humans have disagreements with other humans.

@NotABeatlesRelatedUsername Interesting that you consider “Michelle ” to be their worst song, yet you like “Blackbird .” To me, they’re similar songs in many ways (soft, classic sound, catchy riff, lyrics reflecting some thought, basically same voice arrangement,….).
How’d you pick “Revolution 9 ” or “Long, Long, Long ” over “While My Guitar…”?

It physically pains me to remove any track from the White Album (Wild Honey Pie , Julia , Birthday , Revolution 1 and Revolution 9 in particular), but such are the rules of the game. Five songs for Lennon and McCartney and two for George and Ringo.
Side One:
3. Glass Onion
5. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
7. I Will
Side Two:
1. Revolution
2. Blackbird
4. Sexy Sadie
7. Good Night

It greatly pleases me to remove Revolution 9 & Good Night without losing any sleep. They just plain suck!
It was almost easy burning the White LP to 1 disc minus those2 songs, unfortunately, I had to remove 2 others…..

No they don’t just plain suck. In my opinion.
Then of course you can say ‘yes they do’. But I won’t believe you

I swear, I ALWAYS hear “raging head”. I’ve read it was “ageing head”, but I still hear– and prefer– “raging head”. Plus I didn’t want to call your head ageing. Raging is so much better. Sorry George!

Happiness Is A Warm Gun
These are mainly the ones that stand out to me the most, no particular dislike to any of the ones I left out. I don’t enjoy Revolution 9 , though. Good Night is nice but mainly in the context of the original White Album . Like Wild Honey Pie , an interesting track in the context of the album but not something you listen to much elsewhere.
Definitely a few of these were very hard to put over other options, though.

Here’s what I’d do if someone really, REALLY forced me to shrink the White Album to 14 songs.
Side 1:
Back In The U.S.S.R.
Ob – La – Di, Ob – La – Da
Side 2:
Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey
Long Long Long
Sooo, essentially, first two tracks are perfect as it is. Glass Onion is nice enough but not good enough compared to the others, so we skip right to Ob-La-Di. Removing the goofy Wild Honey Pie and Bungalow Bill, but still goofy enough from Ob-La-Di to flow into While My Guitar Gently Weeps with that “HEYYO”. After that magnificent George song we come to standard Happiness Is A Warm Gun . Since we don’t have much space left, we skip over the Martha and I’m So Tired (which would slow down the flow anyways) to Paul’s classic Blackbird , making up for the lack of two songs before. We skip the rest of the animals and we close off the side 1 with Ringo’s Don’t Pass Me By , a cheerful end for side 1. Yep, no Julia , I still dislike that song.
Then, side 2, I meant to make it something like Please Please Me . Starts and ends with a bang. So this one starts with Yer Blues . Angry and sharp, grrrrhhhh. And to contrast that (just like there are many contrasts in the real album) I borrow one of my favorite songs from side 1 – I Will . A beautiful song indeed. I do the same thing again with Everybody’s Got Something … and Long Long Long. I really felt like I needed another George song and Paul’s already made like, what, Martha, Mother Nature, Blackbird , I Will ? I’d appreciate a different kind of softness for change, George softness this time. Anyways, after that spooky ending from LLL we move on to Sexy Sadie , which I consider a pretty smooth transition. It picks up just enough speed to flow into Revolution 1 , which plods away nice and comfy… and then for the end, BAM, the rawest track, Helter Skelter , no-brainer and kinda stupid at the first glance. But ending an album with Ringo’s “blisters on fingers” scream? That would be something.
Mind you, this is more of my personal version of… “Best of White Album “, I guess.

But the White Album ‘s charm lies mainly in being a double disc feature! It’s got so much on it and the tracks tackle so many different genres that when filtered down to just a single disc it undermines its diversity.
I love the White Album very dearly and it was a very brave move of the group to release it as it is.

I’ve put this on another forum topic – but if you wanted to make the White Album a single album – just use John’s songs – it is an amazing record with just his tunes.
not a knock against Paul or George – but using only Paul’s songs just doesn’t make as great an album.
This is a killer album:
The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill
I’m So Tired
Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey
