It’s always said that what is commonly referred to as The White Album is really titled The Beatles.
For a long(, long, long) time I’ve been thinking that the intent is actually for it to be untitled.
It’s the opposite of Sgt. Pepper in almost every possible way: No imaginary band – hardly any band at all on some tracks; little reliance on studio trickery; no elaborate cover collage – in fact the closest you could get to no cover, even “The Beatles” is not printed on the original LPs, it’s embossed.
The idea that it also has no title would fit in well. Has this ever been raised with Paul?

Mr. MoonlightMy hot take is that after the Beatles split they went down the paths of spiritualism, solipsism, alcoholism, and Paul McCartney

I think the title of ‘The Beatles’ works very well – his is them; no pretence, no supposed concepts, nothing to blind or cloud you. ‘The Beatles’ is a very sprawling album, kind of like everything being dolloped on the plate and you get to choose the bits you like.

Feels like a natural title to have been used at some point, considering albums such as With The Beatles or even Beatles For Sale .

It also kinda cements the fact that “Sgt. Pepper ‘s Band” is no more, and the Beatles are back
