Gotta say Paul, with Helter Sketler, Blackbird , I Will , Birthday , Martha My Dear , etc. Also he did great drumming on “Back In The U.S.S.R” and “Dear Prudence ” And also Great Bass playing and some times acoustic…

This is tough for me. George has a few underrated songs like Savoy Truffle , Long Long Long, and Piggies to go along w WMGGW, but there just aren’t enough George songs to compete w Paul or John
Paul wins barely for me Back In The USSR , Helter Skelter , Martha My Dear , Blackbird , I Will , Rocky Raccoon , Mother Nature Son, etc

Paul. Helter Skelter , Birthday , Martha My Dear , Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da are AWESOME. of course, the other members of the band made songs just as good.

Yep, it’s Paul.
My least fav George songs are on this album, John has that stinker Julia which I can’t stand, and Ringo is only singing two songs, but I adore Don’t Pass Me By .

You could reverse that comment for me! 🙂 Although I do like that gypsy violin on the fade out of Don’t Pass Me By .
If you think Julia is a stinker you will learn to appreciate it more if you try and play it!
On balance though it’s got to be Paul for me. For all that acoustic guitar work on Blackbird and Mother Nature’s Son not to mention all the great bass playing.

Nah, I tried to play it (and lost interest quickly – it’s a bit tricky, but then again I don’t like the song so I don’t even enjoy participating in that kind of practice).
I prefer almost every other song with that Travis picking and likes of it, but hate Julia . I don’t find it touching at all. It annoys me. JUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuliaaaaaa, Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuliaaaaaaaa, Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu… gosh, you’re boring me, John.
Look At Me on Plastic Ono Band is very similar to it, but I still prefer it to Julia .
Paul just destroys everything and everyone on this album in all segments. Acoustic ballads are IMHO better, Helter Skelter is the harshest rocker (altho Yer Blues is a strong tie, gotta give credit where it’s due), other “novelty” stuff is also good. In fact, only REALLY great songs that compete with Paul on White Album are WMGGW, Yer Blues , Happiness and maybe Prudence. Altho I love almost every song on this album, it’s still my least fav (after YS). Paul did a great job on everything here. “Novelty” song or not.

I love the lines “Half of what i say is meaningless, but i say it just to reach you” and “When I cannot sing my heart, I can only speak my mind”, two of the best lines John ever wrote. And it is such a tender song, quite different to the perceived Lennon norm. however i’m with @StrawberryWalrus in that i find the whole track dull nor does it touch me in any meaningful way.

John by a country mile on this one.
An incredible outpouring of creativity and shows you just how much LSD was killing his spirit. I don’t think he produced a better set of songs than the ones here for the band, from the sheer beauty of “Dear Prudence ” and “Julia ” to the balls out rock of “Yer Blues ” and “everybodys got something to hide…” to avant garde tracks like “Happiness Is A Warm Gun ” and “revolution9” the range is incredible. Every track he wrote for the record is just amazing.
It also marks the point where he snapped out of his apathy and started fighting for his voice again instead of going along with whatever paul wanted. You can really feel it in the music.

It’s a tie between John & Paul on this one.
I do like all of George’s 4 songs, and will give a nod to Ringo’s Don’t Pass Me By “stereo version”.

Paul.
John has some good tunes like Happiness Is A Warm Gun but overall I don’t much care for him after Revolver . I think he lost a lot of what made him great in my eyes. I will admit his image post 66 at the time factors into this as well. Superficial aside, I still don’t much care for most of his output then.
For George While My Guitar Gently Weeps is of course one hell of a great song but I don’t like Piggies at all and his other two songs are just okay.

This conversation makes me think even more strongly that I’m glad this is a double album and not a single. We have significant numbers for Paul and for John; while noting what great songs the other two had. If it had been cut down to a single album early on then half of this might have been lost.

George Martin said Rocky Raccoon is filler and only there because double album. It’s reasons like this why I love the album. The songs just grow on you and I can’t imagine listening to it without RR

Id agree that it’s probably George followed by John then Paul (tho I thought it would be John first)
For every moment of genius, and there are a good number, there are a couple of moments of “this could have been dropped” and I wouldn’t have cared.
I really like all of George’s.
Paul’s offerings are probably on a more consistent level but don’t reach the same heights or lows as John’s where for the genius that is ‘Happiness Is A Warm Gun ‘ there is ‘The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill ‘ which i’ve never liked.
