I think that The Beatles (The White Album ) is a really well made album, but I feel like some of the songs are a bit underrated, such as: Rocky Raccoon , Honey Pie , The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill , Martha My Dear , I’m So Tired, etc.
I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts or maybe reasons for why these songs aren’t as popular as others.
Reporter: Beethoven figures in one of your songs. What do you think of Beethoven?
Ringo Starr: He’s great. Especially his poetry.

I agree, it’s an amazing album. I feel like the underrated stuff on the album is just completely overshadowed by the more well-known stuff (WMGGW, Back In The USSR , Dear Prudence , etc). It’s a bit like the Beatles For Sale dilemma; the songs are amazing, but compared to some of the other stuff on the album, they’re average. Because the Beatles are just that great. Excellence is average for them.
Another underrated song: I Will . Possibly my favorite Beatles song of all time (though Hey Bulldog , Hey Jude , and WMGGW provide some tough competition.)

Not really. Most of the songs are either great and everybody knows it (Birthday , While My Guitar Gently Weeps , etc.) or are pure filler (Don’t Pass Me By , Why Don’t We Do It In The Road, etc.). There’s only a few songs that would fall into said category, Savoy Truffle being one of them.

Songs like Rocky Raccoon aren’t going to be as highly regarded as Hey Jude . But that doesn’t make them bad. They’re good fun and offer a window into the personalities of the band members. I suspects lot of songs on the White Album are hidden gems to the general public, and that’s also why I enjoy them so much. While the average Joe references Let It Be like a zombie, I’m all about Wild Honey Pie and Long, Long, Long .

Sorry @50yearslate I wouldn’t consider Long, Long, Long to be underrated, i think the song is rated fairly.
Here are the 6 songs on the album that i consider underrated:
Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey

I agree. I very much enjoy the songs that are under appreciated by others. I grew up listening to songs like Rocky Racoon, and can appreciate them even though they aren’t as popular among fans as much as other songs.

Same here. Rocky Raccoon is not my style at all, but it was a huge part of my childhood, so I love it.

Long,Long,Long is criminally underrated. Great vocals , Ringo’s drumming fits perfectly. The song is amazing and one the beatle’s best. It does not get the recognition it deserves

Long Long Long is another Beatles song that sounds very modern in its writing style. Sounds like it could have come out in just about every decade since then. Very underrated.

50yearslate, GetbackintheussrI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.
